Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 310

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“Why do you lock your door?” She said throwing herself at me. “Why do you need to lock your door?”
“I don’t know, it’s just an habit, I suppose, I said placing my hand on her arm to move her away from me. The smell of her blood was way too sweet a temptation as I just woke up and already felt thirsty.
“They are outside, the dragons, they landed, I can hear the noises, the horses crying,” Irina said trying to get a closer hold on me but I pushed her away fighting not to bit her. It was the first time I noticed how much of a vampire I was when waking up.
“Stay here,” I said pushing her to the side to get to the door but her fist was clenched at the fabric of my sleeve.
“Don’t go, we need to escape, she said tears running on her pale face.
“Stay here,” I repeated pushing the thought in her mind. She was disoriented for a moment that didn’t last long but gave me the time to escape. I was lacking blood and I could feel it in every cells of my body. I ran down the stairs, I could hear the horses and voices trying to calm them, the inn keepers and Alexej and a third voice. There was nothing unusual though I doubted that they would have stayed around dragons too much.
Alexej was standing in front of a carriage making signs in front of horses to appease them but they seemed to be more as more frightened by him. They were standing on their back leg in front of him, kicking the air in front of him and not letting him come closer. The inn keeper was holding a man, probably the driver, he had fallen from his sit and might have broken his leg in the process. He was trying to explain himself but he seemed shocked and in pain and the words getting out of his mouth were incoherent. But there was no dragon in sight, judging by the bite on one of the horses’s front legs, they had been attacked by wolves and had barely escaped.
“My wife,” the inn keeper said. “She is still in the carriage and we can’t calm the damned horses.” His voice seemed desperate.

Thursday Fiction 300: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week, with Frederique fainting into a different universe.

Even when I tried to be friend with them after a while I was cast out to go play with someone else, because they couldn't handle my difference, until there was nobody left to try to be friend with. Traveling to the parallel worlds was the only thing that was truly mine, the only thing I could count on, the only thing I had that would never leave me. I might have sounded greedy but as much as I wanted to share the information and the science and the details, I didn't want to share the experience. I had just discover that Michelle had access to all my memories while I didn't even know much about her and it had to be the same with all of my other self. I didn't want to share my body with them too. Who knew what they would be doing with the opportunity? I didn't want to have useless risks being taken.

"So you really don't want to tell me?" Michelle's voice was fading.

"It's not like that, I faint and then I wake up here or somewhere else. I have no control, when, or how or where I'm going to go."

"I don't believe that," Michelle said.

"Well, you probably know it though since you've seen my memories, you probably know how it happens and when and why everybody around always freak out about it," I said.

"I saw it, I just think you don't care when you do it or who it annoys. That you do it whenever you please and want to escape responsibility or something unpleasant," she said. "And now you wish to go back because I'm making you uncomfortable by saying the truth. You think you are a nice person but I don't see it that way. You just come to other universe to mess up other people's lifes. My father warmed me against it, he said that I needed to control myself and when I travel to be an observant and nothing more. But you don't care about the rules."

"Oh, I'm really sorry, nobody ever gave me the rules book! Nobody in my world knows about traveling to other worlds in your freaking head. We don't have the advanced science or the advanced technology yet," I said.

Wednesday Snippet 303: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last week.

We are at the house and people are discussing Isakael's behaviour.

“What the hell is wrong with that guy again?” Dylan said.

“He is clearly not in his normal state,” Brownie answered.

“I don’t care if he is in his normal state or not, he doesn’t have to talk to us like that,” Sahel answered. He looked pretty annoyed.

The wall was turning light green again, he jumped on his feet and seized the next creature before it was even out of the portal and threw it back to where it belonged.

“Hey, that was mine,” Dylan said jokingly.

“I'll go talk to him,” Viorel said.

“You are going out of the room to talk to him, you didn't even go out to take a shower,” Dylan answered.

“Yuck,” Daciana repeated.

“There is something important Isa wants to ask me,” Viorel answered, and that might help me find the reason why this thing is not closing up when it should have and why it's jumping randomly in different demon dimensions.”

“Well, yeah, Isa might know what to do, he has a fresh mind after enjoying great holidays,” Dylan answered sarcastically.

“Don't try to make me laugh, just catch what comes out,” Viorel said.

He walked up the stairs and stopped to knock on Isakael's door.

“What do you want?” Isakael answered.

Viorel pushed the door open.

“Your wings are black again I notice,” he said.

“I'm not in the mood to talk about that,” Isakael said.

“I'll take care of the portal but I need your help,” Viorel answered.

“Oh yes, I bet you do,” Isakael said annoyed. “But I said it's not my problem, and don't serve me the 'be a good angel', I don't care.”

He took his clothes one by one from his suitcase and started to put them back in the closet.

“The portal is jumping to the Angel World between every demon dimension we encounter,” Viorel started.

Tuesday Travel 93: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"I like this place," Brownie said trying to break the awkward feeling that maybe for some unknown reason, Josh was here just because he wanted to follow her.

Then she didn't know why it was so awkward because she had basically just been following Samantha here because she didn't know what else to do.

"It's not bad," Josh said walking passed her. "Hey, don't you need more crystal for your magic?" He asked Samantha.

Brownie turned around to look at them, maybe he was following Samantha after all. She wasn't sure what was going on but her aquamarine had stopped spinning and stopped shining too which was a bit of a relief.

"I might get two or three," Samantha said. "You never know when you are going to need some, right?"

They walked around the temple. There were two smaller buildings at the back and monks in white robe where passing red garment on top of their usual clothes. There was a large white crystal in a tree shape at the center of a circle with inscription all around that Brownie couldn't read.

"What does your book says about this?" She asked Samantha.

Samanthat didn't answer, she just handed the book to Brownie and walked around the crystal tree. Brownie opened the book to where the fabric bookmark had last been places. It was a description of the temple and on the next page, there was a drawing of the crystal tree. According to the book, it was actually a real tree that the sand and sun had crystalised. It's roots were going all the way to the gate and sprouting out as the pieces of crystal they had seen when they first arrived. If that was true, that was pretty impressive but Brownie wasn't sure.
