Mystery Monday 38: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

Tips: to be sure to do stuff, have everything you need within an average radius of one and a half meter.

It was all there, the books, the laptop, the notebooks, the wool and even the food. Some of my friends thought I was crazy or very lazy, some didn’t have an opinion else than “it’s your style”. But all in all, I am the best at getting things done and most people who don’t see my daily to do list consider that I am never busy.

I took the description of the Harajuku stranger I had written after coming home. To be true after the kiss I wanted to stay there and to wait for him, but at the same time he wouldn’t be back anytime soon. He had been in a rush.

WeWriWar 309: The House at the Crossing 14

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

Teresa puts some tape water in the electric boiler then puts it back on it's base.
“What letter?” I asked, “I was the one who called you.”
The one of me with the short hair took a wrinkled letter from the side of her back pack. The thing is huge, but she still hasn't taken it off, while she is sitting sideways on her chair. Like all she has is in there and she doesn't want anyone close to it.

“Are you certain of that,” Teresa said.

I remember it clearly, I took the phone a few hours ago. I was going to go to an hotel but I suddenly remember about Teresa and... wait, that doesn't make sense.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 252

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

“They won’t go there to hide again,” Sorina’s father interrupted me. I could read the rage and fear on his face, it was a curious mix that I had seen so many time before, something that was making vampire laugh at humans, something beyond our comprehension. If a vampire was to have so much rage inside of him, he would go out and kill and drink until the rage was appeased but humans weren’t that way, they would stay with the anger devouring them from inside. It was madness.
“Dad!” Sorina pleaded.
She was scared, she was tired of having cried so much and there was nothing I could do. Her dad was the authority in here and I had always respected that even if at this particular moment I wanted to punch him in the face to make him think straight.
“Are you trying to punish me for being unable to make the rest of the vampire see the world through human eyes?” I asked. “Are you trying to punish me by having Sorina taken away from me by the new vampires? Is it all that matter to you? To see that your daughter is far away from me? I am the only one who can protect her, I am the only one who stand a chance against the vampires if they are to attack her while crossing the village.”
“Then you will stay here all night and protect her until morning if her safety matter that much to you, but I doubt it,” her father said. “Very well,” I answered. I was determined to stay at the inn even during the day if I was forced to.
I leaded Sorina to the garden behind the inn, her father’s gaze followed us and I heard him asked to his wife why Sorina was behaving like this to me and her mother answered that her daughter knew what a righteous and strong man was and that as strange as it might be I would never hurt her or let her be hurt by any other. Her father asked how she could be so sure about it and she answered that she had felt the same way toward someone long ago.
“I’m scared,” Sorina said.

Thursday Fiction 246: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"Are you alright?"
Alex was waiting in the corridor. I felt a bit betrayed because I told him many times over that blacking out was pretty normal and that nothing would happen to be but I melted when I saw the concerned look on his face.
"I'm fine," I said. "I'm always fine."
"You seemed to be in pain," he answered. "This time it was different."
I didn't know what it looked like for anyone, to see me faint. I knew it made my mother hysterical, and my father go all protective and scared Joshua and his mum a little even if Joshua was the one always recovering the faster. It was the first time I saw something from Alex though even if I had already blacked out many time in front of him.
"It was a little different and we need to talk about it actually," I said.
"I knew you said not to do anything but it lasted so long," Alex said.
"I know, that's not what I was to talk to you about," I said.
"Are you sure that you don't want to come home with me?" My father asked. "What am I supposed to tell Joshua?"
"Tell him that she captain took care of the bad guy and that they will be in Antares soon," I said.
"Antares? Where is that?"
I pointed up.
"Hum... in Finland?" My dad answered.
"No Dad, not in Finland, there are on a spaceship remember, Antares is a star in the Scorpio constellation," I explained a bit annoyed that my dad didn't know something that easy.
"Don't you want to explain that to him yourself? He will have a lot of questions I can't answer."
"Then let him call me tomorrow after school. I have classes in the morning, I can't miss any more of them."
