About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire
Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

She went to her desk without answering and slipped her passport in her bag's front pocket, then though about it a bit more and put in on an inside pocket. She took a few bills from her purse and put then in her jeans' pocket before placing the purse with her passport and that was that.
“I guess I'm all set,” Brownie said.
“At least tell someone, tell Viorel, tell Dylan even,” Grenadine said.
“There is someone in this house who can do location spells,” Brownie said as a reassurance. “I'll be fine.”
She knew that where she was going it was unlikely that a location spell would reach her.
“I still don't like it,” Grenadine said.
“You don't have to like it, you don't have to accept it but I still have to go,” Brownie said.
Grenadine gave her a hug and Brownie placed the bag on her shoulders. She stopped on her door step and turned around to have a last look at her room. She didn't forget anything, she had the feeling that she had, she grabbed her aquamarine stone, it was around her neck and so was Viorel's pendent, she hadn't forget anything at all, it was all going to be fine.
“Are you sure you need to do this now?” Grenadine asked again.
The incessant questioning was starting to make Brownie almost regret her decision but she had to go.
“I'm going, now,” she closed the door and almost ran down the stairs, Grenadine had trouble to follow.
The vampires were waiting in the entrance.
“You're ready?” Viorel asked.
“All packed.” Brownie answered.
He ended her a bag of food.
“I thought you'd better start with home made food, that'll save you some money at least.”
That's what she had forgotten, she was still a bit hungry and she had still almost ran out without food.
“Thanks, I've got to go,” Brownie said.
The door opened and Sahel entered the room. Brownie took a step back not to stay in his way, he couldn't see her. He went straight at Dylan.
“Where is she? Where is she?”
Grenadine opened her mouth as if she was about to say something but didn't really register the situation and her jaw just hanged open. Viorel made a discreet sign of the head toward the door and Brownie slide herself out through the half open door. She just let it open and walked out. She didn't even run to make sure nobody could hear her or that nobody who could see her would thing she was doing something suspicious. She didn't look back. Now there was only her and the road.

Mystery Monday 36: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

I stood up and went to the fridge to get myself a yogurt, regretting the crepe I didn’t buy on the way back. All I had gained from my trip was to start dreaming about a new guy who eluded himself even faster than the old one. I had to face reality, I was love-cursed. I had kept telling that to my friends but they denied it, for them, I was love-blessed, guys always came back to me. My friends, especially girls, never understood my agony, my efforts to be as perfect as possible so that he wouldn’t leave, the break up and looking at my phone every five minutes to get my message, waking up in the middle of the night in tears whenever he forgot a date or went out with friends pretending to be busy. They called me, love-blessed, but I thought I might like the curse better. Thinking about it as I plunged my spoon slowly in my coconut yogurt, the Harajuku guy appeared as the real curse.

WeWriWar 307: The House at the Crossing 12

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

“I don't know the difference,” I say.
“But I do,” Teresa says with an encouraging smile.

It's strange. The other versions of me are also sitting at the table but Teresa only spoke like that to me. The others seem fine but I'm not. And I don't know what it means that they are here. It feels like I'm dreaming.
“Why..”
“Why are there only three of you?” Aunt Teresa says looking at the others two.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 250

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

The ancient of the village came soon after me. They didn’t come to the castle often, even when they came, there was always a risk of one of them being taken as a slave, but his time, they didn’t have a choice, the matter couldn’t be settled between humans, it wasn’t a matter of the blood taxe increasing too much to be bearable as it often happened during winter, it was about the new comer and the blood tax being disrespected entirely. The fact was, there were too many vampires in the area now, the blood tax was too low to be able to feed them all and with the killings the number of humans to feed from was decreasing dangerously. Had I been my uncle I would have open the castle gates for a while like the human rulers used to do when the cities they were protecting were under attack but my uncle didn’t see it that way. For him the death of few humans was nothing, he hadn’t seen the scene at the villages and he didn’t measure the extend of the loss like I had done, he could only laugh at their demands and they left the castle bitter. I was only when tonight had come that my uncle saw what had happened. The humans refused to be drunk from. They had gathered in the center of the village, all of them. They had made a large circle with the woman and children in the center as if that would protect them from the vampires. It was hopeless but it was enough for the vampires of my clan to feel the need to do something. My uncle passed the word that the tax of blood would be increased as soon as the other vampires were gone. That we were going to protect the humans but that they needed to be prepared to pay for it.
“We will pay what we have too, but if you want blood you need to make sure that you will have living people to suck it from,” the chief of the village had said.
My uncle had moved behind him faster than he could have seen and the man felt on the floor with a broken neck. There was no way my uncle was going to take someone talking to him like this, especially a human. A wave of panic propagated in the crowed but the humans didn’t move. My uncle made a move and we all followed him to the inn where the British vampires had gathered at the beginning of the night. The meeting was in my observation a complete disaster and I was running now to get Sorina out of trouble. After the human gathering she and her mother couldn’t hide without getting in trouble with their own people. They had gathered in church at first but had decided that even in the house of god the vampires might come to get them and that they would have more chances of survival if separated so after praying to their god, they had come home. Sorina was crying when I arrived and it broke my heart.
