About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“All right then, you better go, it will still be easier to pack and leave the house while Sahel is out, the little trick you pulled on him might not work too much longer.”
“Wait, wait,” Dylan called from the closet.
He had now disappeared inside it.
“What is he doing?” Brownie asked.
“Being Dylan,” Viorel said.
“I got it, I got it,” Dylan said emerging of the closet covered in dust.
“You guys really need to do some clean up,” Brownie said.
“Could you do it by magic?” Daciana said turning around and yawning.
“No, and don't ask Gideon either,” Brownie answered.
Daciana turned back face the wall. Brownie rolled her eyes.
“Could you even do that?” Dylan ask.
“I don't think so but I rather not try,” Brownie said. She had enough miss-casted spell on her belt.
“Anyway, her you go,” he said giving her a box the size of a boots shoe box.
“What is it?” She said trying to open the box but Dylan stopped her.
“Not until you're on the bus. The trip will take a while so...”
“I see, thanks,” Brownie said.
The box seemed like more of an hindrance than anything else but the least she could do was to still take it with her. At least is was something like home that she would carry around even if it was Dylan style.
“I better go,” she said.
“I'll see you at the door once you're packed,” Viorel said.
Brownie walked out of the room, the basement corridor gave her a chill. The vampire would probably be the only one in the house saying good bye, that was safer. She wondered when things had turned out this way. She used to be hanging out with Hitomi and Grenadine all the time now she spent more time with the vampire and Gideon and Sahel's demon friends.

Mystery Monday 30: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

What we are trained for is the romantic part. When the guy almost runs over you with his bicycle and straight away can’t stop holding your hand unless he kisses you. Or when the guy sees you at the supermarket and runs after you with an umbrella because it’s raining and you forgot yours and he ends up knowing your address while walking you home and starts sending flowers every day. There are movies about it, books about it, songs about it, of course we are prepared for that kind of love. But nobody takes it seriously, at least, I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have because I just stayed there frozen like a two-thousand year old mummy. I swear if there was a class for it, I would have registered but there is no point now, because encounters like this happen only once.

WeWriWar 301: The House at the Crossing 6

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

She is nowhere on the internet. I thought it was cute, that he was so into his grand-mother and the piano. He bought one, before the twins were born and would have me sit on the bench while he played.
“This is my aunt Teresa's house,” the other version of me say pulling me out of my thoughts as I still hesitate to knock at the door.
I know that because that's actually my aunt Teresa's house and I don't know, I just feel crazy, it's like another part of me, something in my imagination is creating this other person, this other me and putting her at places. Ever since I called aunt Teresa, this has been happening, me seeing myself, everywhere, though, this is the first time we have been so close. She looks like a perfect version of me, except that, she isn't because if she was, she wouldn't be here.
No perfect version of me would ever arrived at aunt Teresa's house.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 244

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

I walked out of the bath and dressed up slowly, my mind was still foggy with the dream and there was so many unknown things about myself that I wanted to discover. I passed the philosopher stone around my neck last and buried it under my shirt. I felt the closeness strongly, as if the stone was able to radiate its power through the thin handkerchief I had rolled it in. I needed to be careful with it, I didn’t want to get lost in my memories while traveling with Irina able to steal my sword away from me again and Alexej to busy racing through the wood that he would forgot to eat and drink.
The noises were coming up from the dining room and I went out of the bath room. I made sure that I didn’t forget anything. I wondered if the door of Irirna’s bedroom was able to screen the chant and shout of the men half or totally drunk downstairs. I hoped she was already asleep. There was no need for her to worry about men again tonight and not as long as she was under my protection. I also worried about her blood. I needed it soon and she needed to sleep well for it to come back efficiently. There was something I didn’t really understand. It was said and I wouldn’t have denied that once people would lose blood, it would never come back, but in the village and here in Irina’s body, it seemed that the blood was reforming itself with some times. I wonder if it was specially due to being bitten by vampire or if it could also come back if lost by other mean. I wanted to know everything Irina felt when bitten. I fought against the sudden urge to walk pass my door to hers. I unlocked my door and locked it straight away behind myself. Just like in the bathroom, I wanted to have as much tranquility and privacy as I could. I could still hear the men sing popular song and shout at each other for me drink. They would calm down in few hours when they would have had enough to drink and would feel asleep from their overly wet dinner. I didn’t understand human behavior so much, all the humans I had met wanted so many things but they would waste their short life doing everything but trying to get them but dreaming about meeting their dream and reaching their happiness. I was afraid to see that the more time I was spending in their company the more I was becoming like them.
I knew I had all eternity in front of me but Sorina didn’t and I had wasted my time leaving without her. I lay down on my bed and blew the last candle. I pulled the philosopher stone from behind my shirt and opened a little hole in the handkerchief. I needed to remember, I needed to know and I needed to know now, to have everything back in my memory. I was still a bit uneasy about the stone, its magic was something that I couldn’t fully grasp my mind around. I pressed the tip of my index finger on it, just like I had seen Nicolas do when he had shown me the real power of the stone. I wanted to be able to take my finger away from it as soon as I wanted. I had seen how difficult it had been to take away the fist of Perenelle and Nicolas clung around the stone when they went through their regenerating transformation.
