Tuesday Travel 232: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 79

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

 

“What on Earth? How did you do that?” Brownie asked.

Daphy smirked.

“If someone asked, you'll say you don't know,” she said.

Brownie sight but didn't say anything. She just looked outside for the demons. They were nowhere in sight which was convenient somehow but far from reassuring. Daphy had grabbed the man's shoulders and was already pulling on him.

“I thought the shoulders were better than the legs but he is super heavy on this side,” Daphy said.

“I know,” Brownie answered.

She grabbed the man by the arm and pulled. Daphy went down on the ground outside and waited for Brownie to give her the man's arm. He hit the stairs hard on the way down and turned himself. Brownie froze but Daphy yawned even more.

Mystery Monday 229: Murder at the Conference 126

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.   

We start right were we left off last week:

 

Other people arrived. Some that I didn't know who climbed in another taxi and someone that anyone would have recognized. Alistair McCormac, as usual accompanied by his wife, she loved the conference diner and to visit museums while he was doing physics. I guess that was what a winning team looked like.

Alistair McCormac was probably in his late fifties, a prominent belly, sort grey hair, always a smile and a kind word, everyone loved him, he knew everyone.

“Look who we have here Margaret,” he said helping his wife in to sit next to me.

“Good evening,” I said smiling.

I didn't know Margaret all that much. But I had spend my PhD in Alistair's laboratory. So I was one of his own.

“Good to see you,” Alistair said.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 443

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

I shifted Alexei a little. Irina was against the wall, as flat as she could be.

"You will let us in here and go back to your own room and not get out before tomorrow night," I said.

I pushed the thought through his head. It was thick and entwine like a cobweb. He was resisting. I repeated myself slowly, trying to find a gap in his mind, trying to break something inside of him.

"Get the hell out," he said pushing the pitchfork against me.

"Don't force me to do this," I said.

I knew that if I bite him, I had to finish him, if I was to knock him out. Irina and the woman would be vulnerable once I was out hunting the Jäger and the wolf version of Jarek.

"If you don't let us in, you will die," Irina said.

Thursday Fiction 433: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

 

“I don't know, how does it feel to get into someone else's head?”

“I don't know, it depends who the other person is,” Isabelle answered.

“You visited a lot of universes?”

“Not as much as I would want to,” Isabelle said and she ate some of the fried rice.

Eric looked at her considering.

“I wish I could do it,” Eric said.

“Maybe, Romulus can take you to his universe, I did it last night, I brought someone back with me from a universe of magic,” Isabelle said.

“Really?”

“Yeah.” She ate more. She didn't know why she was telling him all this. Maybe because he already shared his troubles with her, he was making her feel comfortable.

“When they come for you, you'll have to hide.”
