Mystery Monday 226: Murder at the Conference 123

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.  

We start right were we left off last week:

 

Christa and the student were behind us and there was still three seats left. The taxi was like a mini bus. I wondered if we were all going to the same hotel and if it was an hotel taxi instead of a regular taxi you would take as soon as your plane landed.

“So what are you up too now? Did you make bigger plasmas?”

“I'm afraid I didn't, I became a theoretician and I'm only working on computer.”

“That's unfortunate,” Anna reply. “These days, everyone is using a modified form of perturbation theory to explain their experimental results. Your species in on the verge of extinction.”

“But perturbation theory is far from enough, it doesn't explain anything at all.”

“Of course my dear, if everything was already explaing, what would be the need of doing any research at all?” Anna asked rhetorically. “You see the problem is that we are all looking at our own research and refuse to communicate with each other. People used to yell at each other and get into fist fights over equations, even experimenters. But now, we all have to be nice and politically correct.”

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 440

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

"Let's go," I said.

I couldn't run with Irina. I couldn't hide on the roof either. Having her with me was making everything more complicated and Alexei was heavy even for my strong vampire body. I pause and placed him on my other shoulder. It would be more difficult to fight on that side but I had no choice. I was happy to have trained on both side.

"Are you alright?" Irina asked.

"Yes."

But I was too worried to be alright. It was the first time I was full of new blood and worried simultaneously and that wasn't reassuring either. Her footsteps next to me was making my confidence disappear.

Thursday Fiction 430: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“I heard that you need to eat a lot,” he said.

Isabelle took the plate, she was hungry but she also felt like throwing up. Cursed Romulus for his idea of medicine.

“I lost quite a bit of blood,” she said.

“I saw the injury, do you mind telling me what made you want to kill yourself?”

Isabelle looked straight at him. He had some ideas of what happened but apparently some of the details escaped him, interesting.

“I didn't. I removed the tracker my mother put in my body because I was sick of it,” Isabelle said.

“That was brave and a little foolish, you could have gone to the hospital to do it.”

“And say what? That I had pieces of dangerous unknown metal all over my body that needed to be drained out of me? Because I have the rare ability to travel to other universes in my mind like only four other people on the planet?”

Wednesday Snippet 432: Fairy World 73

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week. 

"You've gotta be kidding me," Evalynn answered.

"I need someone to ground me," Brownie said.

"What does that mean?" Samira asked.

"It means that you'll be holding her hand while she faint no matter what until she wakes up. You can't eat or go to pee or break the circle or she'll die," Evalynn said.

Samira frowned.

"I thought that you wanted me to do something important and dive too," she said. "I should have know better than to have my hopes up, this place is so boring."

She stretched her arms with a yawn.

"Actually, you'll be diving too but I'll be the only one fainting," Brownie said.

"How will I be diving?"
