Tuesday Travel 204: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 51

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

“Then it's settled, you can come to the next talk, I just hope it won't bore your creative mind to death,” Henry said a bit surprised.

The waiter brought their starters and Brownie noticed Daphy entering the room. She didn't say anything, and pretended like she didn't see the other girl. Unfortunately, Henry waved at Daphy and before Brownie knew it, the other witch was sitting right next to her and deciding for her own meal.

“You're one of James's students, aren't you?” Henry said.

“Yes,” Daphy answered with a large smile.

It sounded a bit fishy, a witch without a ticket being a member of the conference but Brownie didn't say anything and concentrated on her tomatoes and mozzarella making sure to eat one piece of each alternatively.

“I don't know if you have met,” Margarethe said. “This is...”

“We met,” Daphy said. “Cake and I are great friends, aren't we cake?”

Mystery Monday 201: Murder at the Conference 98

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“I'm might be bigger than you but that's the way American people are supposed to be, our body is shaped that way, sorry that I don't look enough like a human being for you. And I'm healthy, a lot healthier than you in my mind and body. People telling fat people are unhealthy and that they are concern for our health are just liars. If I was to starve myself nobody would give a damn about my health as long as I was the same weight as you.”

“Well, I'm no liar, I'm not concern for anyone's else health for that matter. I'm not concern about a stranger's health on any particular level unless I have to call an ambulance. I'm not walking around telling people to lose weight and how to do it because I don't give a crap. It doesn't concern me one bit. And I can assure you that if I was to starve myself right now, nobody would show any concern about my health either because I am nowhere near close enough to look like an anorexic. If people could actually see the starvation, they would react, most of the time it's invisible until you actually need an IV.”

“Don't try to pretend that skinny girls have it has bad as fat girls!”

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 415

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

"Is that something of your doing? Did your friends come from the other side to get you out of here?"

"As you said earlier, I'm a lonely vampire with nobody traveling with me," I said.

"We found your inn and the inn keeper said there were three of you and that he didn't know you were a vampire because you all ate human food," Jorge said.

They had Irina, my Irina, the thought made me crazy.

"The inn keeper," I said. "You are so funny still thinking that vampire can live in the middle of humans without biting them."

"He and his wife had no traces of bite, but we took our precautions," Jorge said.

"You..."

"I killed them, they stayed with the devil for too long, even pretended that you saved the woman's life, pathetic," Jorge said. "I'll finish with you later."

"I'll kill you, I'll kill you," I raged as Jorge run away to his precious books. "I'll kill you."

Thursday Fiction 405: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“Please,” she said with a pitiful voice, “I'm really, really sick.” and she fainted a cough just for emphasis.

Malik slowly backed away, reached the door of her room and ran for it in the corridor. Isabelle wanted to laugh, maybe she did have some of her mother's manipulation skills after all.

There was a little bit of blood on the gauze around her wrist and her hand felt like double of what it was supposed to be. It was also all sore. That was going to be a problem if she needed to do anything with it. Including having dinner with the alliance. It was rare for them to have a second meeting two days in a row. Her mother probably called them as an emergency when she discovered her last night.

It was bad but Isabelle decided to let Romulus take care of it. After all, it was mostly his fault for calling her to an unregistered universe. One with magic, Isabelle's head was spinning at the thought. If magic existed even somewhere very remote, almost everything was possible. An infinite multiverse and million of millions of millions of possibilities but still only one she could live in, unless she figured out how to get out of here. She needed to find the imposter, either in this universe or in the next.

She cleaned her wounds, changed her gauze and aid-bands and dressed in something dark and tight against her arms. If she started bleeding again, she would be able to escape before anyone could see it. At least her hand didn't look as bad as it really felt.
