Thursday Fiction 368: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

He closed his fist again and the ball moved on the surface of the pond, never really touching the water. He turned to Isabelle and all the water went down with a flash, droplet landing on her clothes and cheek. Romulus smiled but he looked a bit tired.

“This takes a lot of concentration for him still but he is getting better. Magic is always tiring anyway. So much flow of power,” Clara said.

“But Magic doesn't exist,” Isabelle said out loud.

Clara laughed gently in her head.

“Everything exist, if you can just think about it, you create it,” she said.

But Isabelle didn't understand.

“I know that you have been living in a very restricted portion of the multiverse, including only universes pretty much like your own but there is a infinite number of worlds out there, they can't all be so much the same, that would be a shame, wouldn't it?” Romulus said.

Wednesday Snippet 370: Fairy World 11

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

"Apostos, what's going on?" Azazel asked. They had followed the centaurs to the tree, could they have leaded them somewhere else pretending the house had been destroyed when magic broke down. He was missing something.

"The trees can't communicate so they rearrange each other," Kelpie said. "The poison is on the edge, we are almost out."

"He is right," the centaurs said.

"That doesn't make any sense," Azazel answered.

Trees were trees, they didn't move, they didn't spread poison between each other from one end to the other with nothing in the middle.

"I makes perfect sense, in this world," Kelpie answered. "When we felt the magic skipping beats more and more frequently, each species organised their own survival. For the trees, they spread the poison all around to protect the core of the forest, the place where their more ancient spirits reside so that no one could penetrate in there. It's a healing process. If the spirit survived the loss of magic, the trees at the center of the forest might still be able to speak so their civilisation will stay alive protected by the now mute trees which can't do anything be became poisonous to still have a purpose."

Tuesday Travel 167: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 14

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start right where we left off last week.

It was a bit confusing. Maybe there were people she hadn't met yet that she needed in her life in ways she didn't expect. When she found Yue, she thought she was going to be with him for the rest of her life but things didn't turn out that way. Then when she got Sahel instead she was a bit confused but decided to take care of him. Now he was bi enough to be his own man, he didn't need her protection any more at least not in very daily life noticeable ways and it made things better and more complicated at the same time. And she had dumped him. That was something she never thought she would do. She felt like she was always the one being dumped, behind betrayed, being left alone but somehow this time, she had taken a stand for herself. Not because she didn't love him any more but because she had finally decided that she loved herself more.

Mystery Monday 163: Murder at the Conference 60

Hello and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.

I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week at the very start of chapter 3:

Christa wasn't there yet. I was worried because she hadn't finished her poster and she was going to be in a bad mood and our supervisor was definitely going to come and ask me about her. I wasn't her guardian but he somehow thought I was supposed to know where she was at all time. And in a way, I felt relieved to have the office for myself to be able to do my work without having to chit chat with her about her date from last night. I prepared myself a cup of tea. The students were there too, working on things or other. I wasn't really into their research as I wasn't going to the group meetings anymore. Listening to talks in Japanese had proved to be rather useless during the first few months I was there. No meetings meant two more mornings to do research and that was awesome. Only one of the student was presenting a poster at the conference. The English was hard to get right apparently but he was probably waiting for Christa for advice, I wasn't the native speaker with all the skills at language. I couldn't blame them, Christa was also nicer to them, she chatted more, laughed more openly. I was just the scary girl who worked in the next office. Which reminded me what Seiji had said last night, that I wasn't good at people

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, tying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.
