Mystery Monday 163: Murder at the Conference 60

Hello and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.

I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week at the very start of chapter 3:

Christa wasn't there yet. I was worried because she hadn't finished her poster and she was going to be in a bad mood and our supervisor was definitely going to come and ask me about her. I wasn't her guardian but he somehow thought I was supposed to know where she was at all time. And in a way, I felt relieved to have the office for myself to be able to do my work without having to chit chat with her about her date from last night. I prepared myself a cup of tea. The students were there too, working on things or other. I wasn't really into their research as I wasn't going to the group meetings anymore. Listening to talks in Japanese had proved to be rather useless during the first few months I was there. No meetings meant two more mornings to do research and that was awesome. Only one of the student was presenting a poster at the conference. The English was hard to get right apparently but he was probably waiting for Christa for advice, I wasn't the native speaker with all the skills at language. I couldn't blame them, Christa was also nicer to them, she chatted more, laughed more openly. I was just the scary girl who worked in the next office. Which reminded me what Seiji had said last night, that I wasn't good at people

WeWriWar 389: Sun Kiss 12

Hello everybody!

Welcome to a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

You can find the snippet from the other participants in the blog hops in the Snippet Sunday facebook group and on the  Weekend Writing Warrior's blog.

This week, we are back right where we left off last week:

She took the corridor to the back door, it was wide open and the cold early spring wind blew inside the house. She shivered and slowed down. The vampires weren't bad but they could be a bit unpredictable. She didn't understand most of their jokes, probably because they were inner jokes or maybe because they were older than her by centuries and they didn't update to current time. Sometimes it was difficult to know what they meant. Sometimes, she wondered if they were being cryptic on purpose. There was nothing to fear from them, they had been sealed, just in case. They couldn't attack anyone in the house. It had been an ordeal with the latest comer, Sorina. She had trust issues and why not she had a fabulously insane story of her own that Jane was still far from knowing all about.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 378

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

I took a step forward putting my hand on the wall to hide my face while regaining my composure. I wasn't hoping for the act to work but it was still funny to toy with them.

"He had big yellow eyes."

"How come you are here if it attacked you?" The not funny guy who was also allergic to question asked. That was ironic and I was going to make him swallow his question marks.

"It was attracted by something, some noise. I don't know. I was so scared. It looked away from me a moment and I ran. I wanted to come to the church because god would protect me from it but it jumped in front of me so I hide in the shadow. It tried to enter the door but it couldn't and I couldn't move until I heard you, my good priests. God bless you! I'm sure it's still around."

I looked up at them, trying to show an imploring face but I knew I was miserably failing at it. It was painful in my cheeks not to let my smile spread.

"Can I come in?"

"Of course," the younger said.

The not funny one looked at him in disbelieve. Their entire defense against me had just fallen but he didn't have time to punch him again.

Thursday Fiction 367: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“No, please,” Clara said, “Please trust me, trust us, just a little longer. It's Romulus from Everal in my Romi at the moment that's why it's taking so long but it's to show you that you can do it too, ok, don't go just yet.”

Isabelle sighed looking at Romulus. What did he really want? Why come all the way here and have her join.

“Because he loves you,” Clara said with a really little voice.

Isabelle tried to forget it. There was no way Romulus loved her, he had already made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with her as they weren't from the same universe.

The water slowly rose in the middle of the pond first like a small bump and then like a tornado and then still, like a tower, a spike straight out of the pond. It moved up and detached from the water underneath and Romulus closed his fist, the water formed a ball, he opened it flat and the water formed a disk.
