WeWriWar 381: Sun Kiss 2

Hello everybody! 

Welcome to a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday! I'm sorry I late, I forgot what day it was. I do that a lot. I guess this time I have a good excuse since Friday was my 6 year wedding anniversary. Yes, I got married on a Friday the 13th, what witch wouldn't?

Anyway, today I have another little snippet of my latest WIP: Sun Kiss. You'll discover more about Jane.

 But let's just get started where we left off last week:

 

 

Arthur Rimbaud did it before so there was no reason why she couldn’t. That’s why she was trying to read the Aeneid just like he did. Of course, he had a tyrannical mother using the language as a punishment some luxury that she didn't have. Parents pushing you was something that created both trauma and greatness. Here, if she wanted to achieve a sort of greatness, she was going to have to push herself on her own. To rely on her own will power, on her own need of achieving something and that was hard, because instead of just obeying and doing things, she had to argue with herself about them first. She made her decisions and then things would get hard and she would try and back down. How many time did she start and didn't finish just to start again mad at herself for her failure? This text was hard.

Tuesday Travel 154: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 1

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I used to present an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey. Brownie's journey however doesn't stop at just one book, she will be exploring the elements as she tries to fix her magical problem. Since we had a break, let's get started on book 2 in this series: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth.

 

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches. 

 

The excerpt, we start right at the beginning

What Brownie liked about trains was that she could take them whenever she wanted and didn't need to actually walk from place to place. It would have been pretty tiring to walk to Erhland but she knew that if she had to, she would have done it. Though looking through the window now, she was glad she had managed to catch this train and that Fireden was getting far away from her before the demons decided to hunt her again. With the fire raging, so many trains had been delayed indefinitely that she had no choice but to hop in the first train her ticket allowed her to take and that included a two day trip without anything else to do than look at the landscape passing outside. Nothing had change so much she was still in the desert which reminded her of everything that had happened. The desert seemed to be infinite but she knew that if there was a border to it on the side of her home town, there would soon be another one on the other side too, it was just a matter of time.

Mystery Monday 154: Murder at the Conference 51

Welcome back to Mystery Monday. It's been a while. I hope you haven't forgotten our Monday story. If you have, you can refresh your memory here:

This week, we continue right where we left off.

 

But there was nothing to help me fix it. At least not in the dreams when I finally fell asleep. I had the weirdest dreams about snakes and I wondered if there were a lot of snakes in China. They had some in Japan. Once I had found one eating a bird near my balcony. Yea,h I had a sort of balcony on the ground. It was scary how it swallowed the poor little thing whole. Why were they snakes in my dreams? Why were things that had happened so long ago always coming back to haunt me? Maybe Seiji was right and I needed a break, something to make me forgot all those useless things and trauma coming back in my mind when I needed them the less, when I needed to sleep or as soon as I stopped working.

WeWriWar 380: Sun Kiss 1

Hello everybody and Happy New Year! 

Welcome to a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday! It's been a while since I blogged, about six months, and a year since I last hopped with you guys! Time flies! But what's better than a blog hop to get back to it.

Today, I have for you a little snippet of my latest WIP. It's called Sun Kiss and it's about a girl, vampires, a curse (maybe), vampire hunters, demon, studying, language learning, sleeping, music, sun light... and a lot of rambling because so far it's only just a partial first draft which I got in the last 10 days of NaNoWriMo. (one of my most epic win!)

 But let's just get started at the beginning:

 

 Jane had been bent over the Latin text for more than half an hour now and it just only started to make sense. She was going through it one more time methodically, underlining the words in each case with a different color.

“I really need to finish that now,” she thought looking at the big clock on the wall in front of the desk. It was almost three in the morning and she had one hour left before going to bed. She took a deep breath, sometimes being a polyphasic sleeper was annoying. But at least she was able to do more things than anybody she knew. Then again, she needed to want to do them but that wasn’t the point here. She had lots of things to prove to herself and understanding Latin in a record time was on her list.

Here is what got me through the last NaNoWriMo, in more way that you can imagine. Can you see me on the video? Probably not, I can barely see myself and I know where I was standing.
