About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"The girl has a point," the girl answered.
"What's your name?" The other one asked.
"Brownie," Brownie answered.
"I'm Marri, with too "r"s, this is Sandy and her boyfriend Samuel, and this is..." She even didn't know the name from the guy from the train station.
"I'm Josh," he said smiling with all his teeth reminding Brownie of the wolves behind the sweetest smile she had been talking about earlier, not reassuring.
"He's Josh," Marri with two "r"s answered.
"And I say we go for the stew now because tomorrow they are going to start serving the watered down tourist version," Josh said.
He also had a point.
"Maybe we can find a vegetarian version," Brownie answered.
"I like her," Sandy said. "Are you vegetarian too?"
"No," Brownie said.
In her life, there was more meat and pancakes than any vegetables. It was just the way she had a sweet tooth and Sahel needed the protein and the blood and... she had to think about something else. "But I don't mind eating vegetable only dishes."
"We are going to change you into a real vegetarian by the end of the festival," Sandy said walking toward her and passing her arm around Brownie's shoulder.
Brownie almost jumped out of her skin at the contact. Someone was way too close, way too much in her private space. She didn't like being so close to strangers but she grid her teeth and smiled trying to be polite. It would be impossible to change her into a vegetarian but she guessed trying different food wouldn't hurt.
"I don't think that's a good idea," Samuel said pulling Sandy away from Brownie.

Mystery Monday 60: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

That was the tired voice, the one I ignored the most and the only one with something sensical to say. It would tell me that my boyfriend didn’t love me, that working without taking my eyes of my computer for the entire afternoon wasn't going to make me happier and that I should go out when I was getting so depressed that I would stay in bed all day. I was the one telling me to sleep when I was so tired that I wouldn’t even remember my own name. So this time, sitting on the toilet floor, I resolved to listen to it. Having the picture of a murder on my computer screen was a little bit too much to take.

WeWriWar 330: The House at the Crossing 36

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.

It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Does anyone else find those changes in blogger very annoying. It's like everything is still there and the same but all different and confusing!

Let's start right at where we left off last week !

Aunt Teresa is helping my other self to make the baby bottle because she knows too but at the same time, she never had a baby and she doesn't know. I don't know how I am going to manage three babies. One was hard enough, two were hard enough.
The crib has changed, it's mine but not mine anymore, like the house understood our needs and now there is some extra space for Malicia. Just in the middle between Ryan and Hiroshi. They are all mine, all three of them. I really wished there was at least one reality where Mikala's father hadn't taken her away but there isn't any.
The Echo, aunt Teresa talked about earlier. I saw them. I saw Mikala being there but that was just a mirage.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 275

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“Your blood, is the cause of the problem, that’s why it felt funny when I drunk it, it’s missing something that I couldn’t smell, and there is some of it in beef,” I answered.
“But the doctor always said that there was nothing to do about it and that I should just breathe salt and have some blood taken away, see,” she said and she pulled her sleeve up to show me the three cicatrices lines on her arm. It was the way her doctor had removed her blood, a lot less advanced in medicine than the alchemist, it was frightening for the rest of her species.
“Now you’ll do as I say,” I said pulling her to her feet. “Let’s get your stuff and get some breakfast.”
“I can’t eat, I swear,” she started.
“You’ll wash and eat in the carriage when you feel like it,” I said.
I felt like dancing, I didn’t know why but I was strangely happy. Maybe because Irina was going to be ok and I had done something right for once. I knew I could fix her, then maybe I could fix the rest of my problems.

Alexej was already up and the horses ready when I walked out of the inn after breakfast. The grass was slightly frozen and cracked under my shoes. Summer was gone and we would soon go to the North what a crazy idea I had. I could have gone to London and hide their waiting for my clan to attack me. Dylan had probably gone home after the massacre and I could have found him. I could have gone to the South and stop in Venezia to learn about poison and what could be effective for vampires but that too was unthinkable now, I had decided to do to the North and I had to bring Irina back to her country even though she still dreaded it for an unknown reason. I suddenly started to fear that the hidden family I had felt with me in the wood and the one I was looking for in the North might be different. What if they didn’t accept me, what if they didn’t want me around?
