Welcome Mystery Monday. For
this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my
novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.
About Harajuku Kiss
At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery
tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her
boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable
happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in
the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game
of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the
loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.
Here is the snippet for this week
They argued for some time. They needed to make sure nobody would ever know about their business, there was no way out, and Kaji was the only witness. The man cleaned the trunk and pushed his colleague in the car before coming back to Kaji. He made him kneel and shot him in middle of the forehead. The blood spurt out at the back of his head, as the bullet went out. Kaji fell on his side. The man smirked, threw some bank notes around Kaji's dead body and walked back to the car. Now, the murder was set up like an execution, nobody would suspect him.
Brownie is a normal girl, or so she thinks. She likes to chat with her
sisters about random things, she likes fashion and she is member of the
fashion club at school. But one day, as her little brother gets really
sick because of a curse placed on him, she meets this really strange guy
who cures him absorbing the baby's sickness within himself. As he is
about to fall from his new acquired fever, Brownie sees Yue's soul and
immediately falls in love with him. But Yue is not a human, Yue is a
demon.
Brownie and Yue will built their love story until....
Plot:
Until Yue's soul is stolen. There is nothing left of their love. The
purple light dancing in Yue's grey eyes is gone. Forever? Not quite.
Brownie is desperate to find it back. And to get a soul stolen by
demons, she needs to go deep into dark magic! But Brownie is not a
witch, she is just looking for a spell powerful enough to bring her love
back. When an amateur starts playing with strong magic without
preparation and without caring for the consequences, things turn
wrong...
“Of course! You know
I’m always up for shopping.” Brownie seized some plates from
Grenadine’s hands and spread them on the table. “There are a few
things I need.”
“We were not planning
to go shopping for clothes.” Hitomi said quickly. “More the book
shop.”
“And the painting
shop,” Grenadine added.
Brownie was into fashion
and even liked to design her own clothes during her free time.

Summary of the previous episodes:
Viorel has been tortured by his
supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely
enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of
who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left
Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a
previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The
little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole
and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but
nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi)
taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my
holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would
like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still
managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady
before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of
persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a
deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got
some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were
he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg
instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit
scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a
horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people,
he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to
enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a
feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything.
Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued
by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was
looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's
agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets.
On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting
him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not
the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting
with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north.
He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of
Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.
“I think it won’t be a problem for you to prepare a hot bath and you can even perfume it with flowers I believe,” I said pushing the thought in the mind of the man.
Irina looked at me amazed.
The man seemed to try to think but I could see in his hazel-nuts brown eyes that the idea was making its way through his mind.
“Of course, a bath for the lady, with flowers, I’ll take care of it immediately,” he said taking away his handkerchief hat and turning it in his hands in front of him as if waiting for more orders.
“And I would like some cider with the beef stew and potatoes of course,” I demanded.
The man nodded and left for the kitchen. I leaded Irina to the dining area. There was a fire on the chimney, but I tried not to give it too much attention, I sat at the table turning my back at it and startling every time it would crackle.
“You seem so tense,” Irina said. She was looking at the fire with a smile that I envied, “I can’t believe you managed to have him get me a bad so easily, I thought he would keep on refusing forever.”
“It’s amazing what you can have people do for you when you ask them politely,” I answered.
I could feel the warmth of the fire on my back and the smell of burning wood was filling my nostril. Those were nice sensations. I had thought I had finally overcome my fear of the fire but it was still there.
The cider came first, and I filled up Irina’s goblet.
“You’re not drinking?” she asked.
“It has been a long day and I want you to rest and relax as much as possible, I don’t know how long it will take until we can settle for long,” I said.
The shaking hit me hard
and I almost lost balance. It was dark all around and I didn't need
to blink to figure it out I was out of my world and wide awake
somewhere else. In front of me was the high glass wall but the stars
on the other side were totally out of my concern today. There were
huge stones all around us, the spaceship was flying through an
asteroid belt.
"If it keeps on
shaking like this, the ship's shell isn't gonna hold," Tucker
said.
I hadn't heard his voice
in month but I remembered suddenly how annoying it was, how
everything about him was getting on my nerves. Last time I recall he
was in a cell, guess Michelle had other plans or had to comply with
other people's plans without my help. It's not salsa class I should
be taking, it's definitely judo or something.
I turned around to face
him and was please to see that at least my girls were still doing
their job. If they held the ship, there was nothing to worry about.
Still, they seemed a bit washed out.
"We need to turn
around, with all the impact, we'll never get through it," Tucker
continued.
Was my main purpose in
this world to be dealing with him? I mean it was nice and all to be
traveling on a spaceship but I would have like to arrive at times
where he wasn't around. He was sitting with the rest of the council
near the table of command. My seat was obviously empty so I was still
the captain. I wondered why I had walked here instead of sitting with
them.
Klara looked at me. Here
eyes met mine and her facial expression changed. She winked at me and
I nodded.
