Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 150

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week

“Why were they looking for you?” he said.
He didn’t look as scared of me as he used too and I had a bad feeling about it. I decided to be cautious and straighened myself up helping myself from the wall. I wasn’t feeling good the blood was still leaking from my injury, I grabbed the tip of my sleeve between my teeth and torn it apart. I couldn’t let go of my sword and blade now and I also hated to put them back in the furrow without carefully cleaning it.
“Who knows?” I said.
I walked to the table putting some distance between the man and me. I took the table cloths and rolled my blades in them. Cosmin’s sword was still really close, the human had just one bad move to make and I would be on it. I attached the swords to my sides and tried to tight up the weak bandage I had name around my painful shoulder. It was already red with blood, I had to get out of here as soon as possible. I took Cosmin’s sword with my valid hand and walked across the room back to the window to get the satchel. The man was looking at me, he was so close to the stairs now that he would probably have fallen sitting on them if I had tried to come near him. He suddenly felt disgusting to me. There was nothing appealing about him, he would betrayed anyone. He had betrayed his own brother letting him become a vampire and had brought him back here not to save him but to protect himself. He had given his wife to the vampire to feet on when his neck was still untouched. I almost felt the urge to kill him too.
“Where are you going?” he said taking few steps toward me as I urge to the door.
“Somewhere where I won’t need to kill you but if you remember ever seeing me, you’ll be dead before seeing the sun rise again”, I said. I smirked showing him my fangs before turning around to leave. The sun was rising already and he saw me walk in the morning sun. I heard him fall on his knees as I was walking away. I needed to hurry back home, I didn’t want people to see me enter with swords and covered in blood.

Thursday Fiction 144: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventure of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I fell dizzy as pushed the door to the quantum mechanic introduction class. It was one of those huge auditorium but they weren't even enough people to fill half of it. We took a sit in the shadow near the wall somewhere in the middle.
"You don't look ok," Amy said.
"I haven't blacked out all day," I said.
"Are you about to black out?"
"I can never predict it but I sure wish," I said.
"You wish?"
Once again I had talked faster than I had thought.
"I'm not feeling very well, I think the black out help my brain function properly or something," I said.
Amy gave me a weird side look. I didn't know if she bought that explanation or not but she didn't have time to answer because the professor was already downstairs in front of the board. Now it was supposed to be fun. Sneaking into second year classes somehow made me feel so smart. I know it was silly but I still enjoyed that. My head stopped spinning after a while and I wondered if it had something to do with the black out or if I just lacked sugar or something. My mother always had me carry chocolate everywhere, to eat after the black out in case she wasn't there to take me to the hospital which mostly never happened. But as one more act of rebellion, I didn't have any chocolate on me just now. I felt a bit bad because that was what had become of me and I didn't see it happen. When I was living with her, I obeyed her rules, either I liked them or not. Now that I was on my own however, I was throwing away all the boundary. As if it wasn't enough to rebel to go to university and study what I wanted, now, I was forgetting to check I had all food group each meal. I could have yogurt at lunch and at dinner and no fruit for dessert. I didn't need to put the dishes in the dishwasher or wash them straight away, I didn't have a strict bed time, and I didn't carry chocolate around. This was bad. Those were all little rules that she enforced to make life easier and safer and I was ruining them for me. I even went out last night and drunk alcohol on a school day. If obeying her rules was as if she still had powers on me, disobeying then also felt the same. There was no winning no matter what I did, it was like everything was always related to her.

Wednesday Snippet: Demon World 148

Welcome to a new part of Demon World unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“What happened to you?” Gideon asked.
She was looking so strong and masculine somehow with her big wings flapping in her back uncontrollably that it was a bit difficult for Gideon to sympathize with her, he felt like treating her like one of the boys, it was a really strange feeling and it was making him uncomfortable.
“The sanctuary has been attacked, several of my friends disappeared. They had powers like crazy, they were wearing weird robes as if they were from some weird organization, they got kicked out, finally, but there are lots of damages, they were using, I don’t know how to call it but it forbids us to heal so I got that.”
She pushed the bag toward Gideon pushing it strongly in his chest.
Gide on cough
“Do you know who they actually are?” He said opening the bag. It was filled with black stone which seemed to emit there one light in the back..
“No idea, I wasn’t there, it happened fast, between the moment we left and the moment I came back. I need to go back there to help, but Azazel need those, if he is going there on his own.” She seemed to calm down a little.
“He is not on his own, there are plenty of people with him, too many for Gideon to go play”, Dylan said.
“They need this, all of them, those people can neutralize our Eather power, which means no healing people are dying around, they need those stones, do you get it?”

Book Review: Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman (with video)

It has been a while since my last video and even longer since my last book review. Today I have for you a review of "Practical Magic" by Alice Hoffman.
I have a mix feeling about this book. It can be some times intense, sometimes boring. It can be hard to follow at time because of the choice of POV and the crazy going time line but it doesn't fail to be interesting. It was a sort of difficult read, the type of book you really have to concentrate on to know where you are at.

Here is the video
