In February I went to a curious restaurant with a friend. On the menu, silk worms, grasshoppers, Madagascar cockroaches, Argentinian cockroaches, cicadas...
First we had to cook then, fried, boiled, buttered, in chocolate or hidden in cakes...
It was a fun and frightening experience all at the same time. It's strange how was could basically eat anything if our mind wasn't preformed by cultural culinary habits.

Japan : one day trip to 川越
En français
About one month ago I decided to go on a one day trip. I was just back from 北海道 and not feeling like stopping to travel quite yet. As I didn't have much time however I needed to find a place close to 東京 and 川越 seemed to be the perfect place. I took multiple train to get there. You can probably go there much more directly if you go to Ikebukuro or Shinjuku first but that wouldn't be as funny would it?
It was a very nice day but it was also very cold. I first went to visit the temple then walked toward the 江戸 period quarter. When I arrived there there was a shop offering a lot of free food sample, no need to say it was a bit crowded. Then I walked in the 江戸 quarter to Candy street where I ate some sort of waffle in fish shape, very delicious. Before coming back, I walked to see the rest of some castle but there was not much to be seen there.

北海道の雪祭り (Snow festivals in Hokkaido) : Coming back
En français
I flew back to 東京 the next day. I could see the snow all over 北海道 from the plane. When I left 東京 few days before I felt cold there but when I came back from the snow world, the temperature seemed to have raised a lot. It's very funny how you can get used to much worse very easily.

北海道の雪祭り (Snow festivals in Hokkaido) : 小樽の夜
En français
After my break I went back to the snow festival, it was snowing a lot there. I first started in the snow tunnel, the snow flower and the owl forest, then went to the other side of the street. The snow was illuminated by cancels hiding everywhere. There was bigger sculpture where you could take pictures. Then I went to the canal. The side was illuminated by candles and more candles were floating on the river. You could buy one and make a wish. It was so cold that my fingers were trembling when taking the pictures.
