Queens (A-to-Z challenge 2016)

The theme of my A-to-Z April Challenge this year is dolls, as I have a lot of dolls and I'm pretty sure I can go from A-to-Z with them. Today for the letter Q is for the Queens!

From the Alice series and the fairy tales series, pullip also have the queen of heart and the evil step mothers. I of course don't have all of the queens but I have four of them: The lunatic queen from the lunatic Alice series, the classical queen from the classical Alice series, the evil step mother, Midnight Velvet and the evil step mother in disguise, Midnight Deja-Vu from the Snow white series. Some of them are a bit dark looking but they are still pretty sweet.

Classical Queen.
Midnight Velvet, the evil Queen.
Midnight Deja-vu, the evil Queen in disguise.

Pocket fairy MiniMay (A-to-Z challenge 2016)

The theme of my A-to-Z April Challenge this year is dolls, as I have a lot of dolls and I'm pretty sure I can go from A-to-Z with them. Today for the letter P, is for a different sort of doll.

I have one more sort of doll, a Ball Joined Doll from the company Blue Fairy. I bought my Mini May second hand so I got him a little cheaper. He is very tiny. He came with clothes a bit too big for him. I tried to make him something different but with his baby body shape with a big tummy it was a bit difficult. I'm still trying to find him something more appropriate.

Okita Souji and dolls in traditional Japanese clothing (A-to-Z challenge 2016)

The theme of my A-to-Z April Challenge this year is dolls, as I have a lot of dolls and I'm pretty sure I can go from A-to-Z with them. Today for the letter O, id for my dolls in traditional Japanese clothing.

Okita Souji is the last of my dolls in Japanese traditional clothing. I first got a group of three ninjas: Pullip Akoya, Taeyang Arashi and Dal Katoya, then two girls in Kimonos: Pullip Youtsuzu and Dal Hanaayame, I'm missing the Taeyang Seiran that goes with them. Okita Souji is the only real historical character of the group and as far as I'm aware the only historical character made by groove. Okita Souji was the captain of the first unit of police forces called Shinsengumi during the last shogunate period.

Nella and Johan (A-to-Z challenge 2016)

The theme of my A-to-Z April Challenge this year is dolls, as I have a lot of dolls and I'm pretty sure I can go from A-to-Z with them. Today for the letter N, I'm going to introduce dolls from literature.

Nella and Johan are the characters of the novel by Kenji Miyazawa entitled: "Night of the Milky Way Railway". The short novel can be read here for free. In the novel, Johan is called Giovanni which is the Italian version of the name and Nella is called Campanella who is a boy in the story but a girl in the doll version.

There are two sets of those dolls made by Groove in collaboration with Alice and the pirates. Alice and the pirate is a Lolita clothing brand that get deals with Groove very regularly, they also recently made the Isul Little Prince, Pullip Rose and Pullip Fox from the Little Prince movie. So far, I have the little Prince as you may have seen for the I entry of the A-to-Z challenge and I'm waiting a little bit to get the fox and the rose.
The color set of Nella and Johan was really easy and cheap to get when I started collecting so I got them very early in my collecting months, the black and white set was a bit more difficult especially because Johan is pretty rare even though Nella can be bought on her own. Fortunately, I managed to find the two of them together at a store.

Here are some pictures of the four of them.

MIO (A-to-Z challenge 2016)

The theme of my A-to-Z April Challenge this year is dolls, as I have a lot of dolls and I'm pretty sure I can go from A-to-Z with them. Today for the letter M, I'm going to introduce not a doll but more a doll kit, called the Make It Own, aka MIO kit.

You can buy already made pullips called stock dolls, pullip dolls made by artists which are modified stock dolls or MIO dolls. The MIO kits has every part of the doll included, the face and head, the body, the eye mechanism. What you have to do is create the face with dry pastel and paint, create the eye chips from the clear eye chips in the packet, build up your doll, put on a wig and some clothes. Et voilà, you have your own doll. The process is not really complicated in itself, it's just that putting the color on the face can be really tricky at times.
My first pullip doll was a MIO and so was my second. In the end I have seven pullipand one Taeyang MIO. I also made a dal from a cheap doll that I bought second hand but that wasn't a complete MIO in a MIO box.
Here are my girls and my boy.

First the MIO kit box. It comes in 5 different colors now, it's getting darker and darker. Groove recently released a mocha color which I haven't try yet. I hope they'll make a chocolate version or maybe some nice non-skin-color colors.
We have to glue the eyelashes. If you want to have bigger eyelids you can also use fake one for human make up.
Here are some eyes.
Theora was my first and I had to change her face several time before getting her right. Here is one of her early face.
Here is the final version.
As she was my first pullip and my first MIO too, I have a lot of pictures of her in different outfits and settings.
Here is Saphira, she is my second pullp and second MIO.
Fresa, my strawberrry girl with Strawberries drawn on her cheeks.
The trio
My Elf princess, Amarelis
My mermaid Nerissa
This is Diva, my Cyberpunk style girl
My galactic angel: Polaris
And at last, my Taeyang, also an angel names Antares
