Hello and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.
We start right were we left off last week:
I took a sip of tea and tried to calm myself. I didn't need all that background to come back to me but it was still there, nagging me with this feeling that maybe she had it right and I was wrong. Maybe wanting my freedom and no control over me was not possible. But it was, with Seiji, it was. I could stress over my work and Christa and the trip to China but I didn't have to worry about my relationship. Then why did have still have this sinking feeling? Christa was really getting to me because what was going on in her relationship was the “normal” and all the freedom I had was sort of alien and new. It wasn't what I was used to and that's why it also wasn't too reassuring, because I didn't know what was coming. I was worried because it was true but felt too good to be true.
I took another sip of tea and tried to concentrate on the paper I was reading. It was an easy one, explaining a calculation method involving perturbation theory. It was better than to think about everything that could go wrong. I was already feeling a bit shaken from the lack of sleep, the snake dreams and Christa's dramatic entrance. I wouldn't need much to get me over the wall.
“I think it's highly suspicious,” Christa said.
