We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.
We went back to the hotel on time for dinner. She seemed tired. I tried to emphasise it in front of the inn keeper’s telling that she looked really pale and that she almost fainted again when shopping. It was a lie of course but they didn’t need to know. Thinking about it, her fainting yesterday was making it handy for me to drink from her. If she was sick, nobody would notice why, I just needed to make sure that she was warm enough and asked for a fire to be started in her room. The inn keeper’s wife praised me for my solicitude toward the girl telling me it was rare and that was even serving my purpose better. I made sure Irina ate a lot. And I sent her to bed, made sure she was warm, her blood would be more liquid and easier to drink with an increase of temperature. I locked her in her room again and told her to go to sleep. I waited in my room, I needed to make sure that the people around would be in bed.
It didn’t take too long. Alexej was still with the horses, he slept there even when he had a room. He said that he needed to make sure the horses would be ok if the dragons were to be seen somewhere close. The inn keeper and his wife went to bed really early as well. They had dinner in the kitchen as the same time we did, throwing an eyes in the dining room from time to time to make sure that we weren’t missing anything.
The inn was quiet, I could hear owls waking up and peeping in the night as I stood in front of the window looking at the forest. I had opened it slightly to smell the air of the night. Bats were flying in circles in front of the garden, it wasn’t really dark, the moon was almost full and shining in the cloudy sky giving a dark grey taint to the leafs. The wind was light and carried the smell of the rain and last summer storms. I felt attracted to the forest as if it was calling another part of me. I wondered if I could transform into a wolf again, I wanted to try but not tonight. The full moon was too close, I wanted to see if I could do it just anytime, not when the wolf in me was the closest. And tonight wasn’t the time for it. I wanted to visit Irina and sleep real memory dreams not induced by the philosopher stone. I felt more vampire than ever, as if the vampire in me was rebelling against the wolf part, trying to be stronger than it. The thirst for blood despite eating human food was something new.
