We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
“There are a lot of legends around here, stories about man who can change into wolf, they came from the north East,” the inn keeper’s wife said. “They were told to change shape with the full moon and to behave like beast even more than the wolf who couldn’t change into men.”
“That one seemed really familiar,” Irina said.
Alexej had stopped eating.
“A man is a man, a wolf is a wolf and you shouldn’t think too much about dreams little girl,” he said.
“They are real, the ones who change,” the inn keeper’s wife said.
“You said they are legend and stories, something like a little girl talking too much about dreams,” Alexej said standing up, pushing his chair away and facing the inn keeper’s wife with his entire height, he was a lot taller than her, she took a step back away from him, she was impressed. A veil of fear passed on her face as if for a second she thought that Alexej was one of the wolf changing men.
“Alexej, we’re going in town this afternoon, please prepare the carriage,” I said to release the tension. I could have waited for him to leave and caught back with him later but stories about wolf weren’t really of my taste right now.
“Why do you need the carriage? You can just ride one of the horse,” Alexej said. He was looking at Irina as if he was going to hurt her and I knew that I couldn’t let her anywhere close to him alone anytime soon. He seemed more annoyed than ever, I has never seen him like that.
“Irina is coming with me,” I said without looking at her or asking for her opinion.
“I’m not going,” she said.
“You need proper clothes,” I answered looking straight at her, I had always smiled and indulged her but I started to see her behave like a spoiled brat. She needed a lesson and soon before the situation turn too bad.
“I am not going,” she said again.
