Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
It's been a while since I last participated. My blog has been quite empty for the past weeks (months). Hopefully, things will get back on track really soon.
Let's continue with "The House at the Crossing"
and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It
follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into
the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the
house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first
time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new
role and the new version of who she is.
“What if one of us never dies?” My other self asks interrupting Teresa.
I don't know where that comes from, that part never crossed my mind but now that she blurted it out I'm just thinking about death again. It scares me... wait not really me, a few of the other mes inside me.
“Come on my dear, we aren't there yet as a species, no matter the universe,” Aunt Teresa answered.
“How do you know? Some part of you you won't meet until you both die,” my other self said.
She is in fighting mode, I remember this argumentative part of me from when I was younger. Now, it's gone, at least for me, she still has it.

THAT is quite a lot to adapt to! I might worry that I'm going crazy. :-) Intriguing story concept. Welcome back, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThe idea is that it won't be for long and if she couldn't adapt she wouldn't be there. But yes, it's crazy making.
DeleteWelcome back :-) Glad you're continuing with this intriguing story.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteWow - that's a brain breaker trying to keep it straight.
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Thanks. Yes, it takes a bit of getting used too.
DeleteMind blowing! That's a lot to take in.
ReplyDeleteMy character thinks so too.
DeleteI've missed this twisty story! Another complex excerpt that I really had to think about...which was very cool. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI have enough trouble sometimes keeping one of me straight, let alone multiple mes . . . or something like that.
ReplyDeleteYes, which one of yous is yous and which ones of yous aren't. Except they all are but they aren't.
DeleteLike arguing with yourself . . . does anyone ever win?
ReplyDeleteNot really, it all evens out eventually.
ReplyDeleteInteresting conversation. Does every one of her consider herself the primary self?
ReplyDeleteYes, they do. Since she is changing, the main character is still always the primary self even if it's not the initial self anymore.
DeleteA fabulous bit of speculative fiction.
ReplyDeleteDue to trauma in my younger years, I often felt that my personality was fractured, although not to the point of forming different personalities that took over. If I said that at some point before, I apologize for repeating myself.
