WeWriWar 121: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Then Demon and Fairy is also available for free for reviewers through Shut Up & Read. You can have a look at it here if you want.

Now let's go back to our story.
Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow.
We start just where we left off last week.

Jason took a deep breath, he needed to stay confident. Clarissa was all he had. He walked away from her room trying to convince himself that everything would be alright. He needed to gather the money tonight and to clean the house to make it welcoming for Clarissa. But first he needed to go to work. He had been working at night in a garage. He didn’t know anything about motorbikes so he was just cleaning the engines’s pieces. He needed to remove the oil and to put them to dry.

Answer to last week's comments:

I think it's reasonable to be worried about that rainbow.. you know being in the first chapter and all that!

  1. I like the way you use the description of his work, it almost feels like the "busy-work" some people do to keep from thinking when they are terribly worried.

  2. Hmm. He doesn't seem like the type to do a good job getting rainbows--too down-to-earth and practical. I hope I'm wrong, though.

  3. Sounds like he's not too confident about the deal he's made.

  7. Working in a garage while not knowing anything about motorbikes is quite a challenge! Looking forward to the rainbow scene!

  8. I get the sinking feeling something is going to go south here quickly with that rainbow... Maybe it'll be a really good fake? I love his character though, so dedicated and caring.
