WeWriWar 117: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday.

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow.

We start just where we left off last week.

“I don’t catch them, I sell them, it’s what I’m good at,” the fat man answered. “Now what do you want? I don’t have all day.”
“A purple rainbow,” Jason answered.
“You’re pretty greedy,” the man said smirking, looking at Jason with a calculator in his eyes like trying to figure out how much money he could extract from the kid. “It’s not for me,” Jason answered.
“I don’t need to know that. Will you have the money?” the man said.
“Yes,” Jason answered.

Answer to last week's comments:

Oops, we still don't know how to catch rainbow. I'm a very mean writer, you have to read the entire book to get that sort of info... *evil laugh*
And I agree with everyone, we have reasons to worry for Jason.

Thanks LuAnn for grabbing Demon and Fairy. :)

  3. Who sells purple rainbows? I think the guy's a con-artist. Poor Jason - it's like he's dealing with the rainbow underworld. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I gather than purple rainbows are more expensive. Is that because only really strong ones display violet colors?

  8. Love the line of a calculator in his eyes! Excellent description for a guy like that! What's the significance of the rainbow being purple though? Does each color mean something or do something different? I'm curious now.
