Thursday Fiction 420: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

He checked his watch.

“We have a few hours before they start looking for you. After that, they'll probably figure out in no time that you left with me then all bets are off. We need to go to Orin and get the tracker removed.”

“I already took care of that,” Isabelle said. She dug her left hand in her bag and took out the metallic ball. “What does this thing actually do? Is it tracking me in this universe too?”

Romulus poked at the ball which didn't react.

“No, as long as nobody feeds it, there is no risk of it turning back on again. But you'll need some food, I was famish when they got rid of mine, they said it was the blood lost,” Romulus said. “How did you?”

Isabelle showed him her wrist. There was blood on the gauze again.

“You might need more than a aid-band,” Romulus said.

Wednesday Snippet 422: Fairy World 63

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

He had been so helpful lately but Sahel was far away on fairy ground and the magic moving around could have been demonic. She wondered for a second if there was something the shadow hadn't been telling her. She fixed the multidimensional hole in the living room with his help and now he was helping again. As if he didn't have anything better to do. He had even stopped his usual complaining about her being an idiot and not knowing anything about what she was doing.

It was not Yue's soul in love with you, it was the dark part of him.

The thought crept in her mind but she pushed it away and looked around. Demonic magic, it couldn't be. She needed some sage to clear this space before something more frightening than a hole leading to every possible demonic dimension appeared.

This place is safe, she reminded herself. There is a magical barrier protecting me, protecting us, this place is safe, including the library.

Tuesday Travel 218: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 65

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

Once again, Brownie felt trapped by destiny. It was her fault for always interfering but she would have hope that the demon would at least be waiting at the next city for her instead of intercepting the train. On the other hand, she had been the one telling them about the train. She had been the one guiding them to the train station to catch her in a train she didn't take. That was a no brainer that they were going to look for trains until they found the right one. And they had to be very pissed off at her by now, even more than usual.

Mystery Monday 215: Murder at the Conference 112

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“But I don't need help!”

“You need to change, you can't go on like this.”

My hands started to shake again. I was going to have another panic attack if I didn't get out of here but I was in a plane, stuck with Christa.

“Look at this.”

I placed my hands in front of her, it was trembling and she took it. I hated that sort of contact, it was out of my culture, people in France don't take each other hands like this.

“You're shaking.”

“It's the same thing every time I'm about to have a panic attack, it starts with my hands shaking.”

I took my hands away from her. It wasn't really helping to get her in my personal space.

“So are you going to pretend that it's because of me again?”

“I'm not going to pretend, Christa. It is because of all the bullshit you have been serving me for months. Do you know anything about panic attacks? Have you ever had one?”

“No, I haven't had any but I know enough to say that your life is going wrong and that's why your panicking.”
