WeWriWar 381: Sun Kiss 3

Hello everybody!

Welcome to a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

Anyway, today I have another little snippet of my latest WIP: Sun Kiss. You'll discover more about Jane.

But let's just get started where we left off last week:

She had taken something bigger than she could chew just to prove to herself that she could and that she wasn't an idiot but she was already wondering when the burn out was going to come up. Yet, tonight, she was making progress, she could feel it. She just wished to get things without needing to do it the hard way sometimes. But everything worth having required work.

She took a sip of her tea, it was cold. Her tea was always getting cold before she thought about drinking it. She had so much to think about. She reread the first sentence and smiled that was it. Efforts always ended up paying in the end.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 370

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

The Jägers were waiting outside. There were a lot of them, a lot more than I expected. Maybe twenty or so. That had the effect of calming me down. One part of me was telling me that I couldn't possibly take them all by myself and that I should just leave the region and go to the north as soon as possible. But another part of me couldn't resist the curiosity pushing me forward. I needed answers about the dragons' egg. I wanted to know if it was worth it to risk my life to get the dragon egg for myself or if it was better to forget about it and to just leave the dragons by themselves making sure that the Jäger wouldn't get it. And on the top of it now, there was the wolf. I could feel myself closer to my wolf side too, I had to resist not to change. The full moon was high, it was always attracting the wolf side. I wondered why the captured wolf didn't turn back to its human form, if it still had to learn to control his transformation. It had taken me a long time, as a child, to be able to do so and I half suspected that part of the rapidity of my success was due to my vampire blood. That wolf was in danger. I wasn't sure I wanted to rescue it even though it would be nice to have an ally of my kind if possible, but he might know where the others were in the North or I might learn more about my transformation from him. Now the first thing was to figure out what the Jägers wanted from him.

Tuesday Travel 155: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 2

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start right where we left off last week.

Plus this train was rather comfortable she had a couch to sleep in above her head and right now she could sit at the window on very cushioned seat made of red felted fabric. If you'd asked her, it was a bit cliché, the type of trains you could have found in one of those old novels where people traveled across Europe in highly comfortable wagons. She almost wondered where were the ladies in elegant dresses and the men in top hats. The fact that she had the cabin all to herself was not bad either and totally unexpected since she was leaving one of the most popular festival of the season. Apparently, most people would rather wait for their direct train home than jump on the first train exiting the city to take another train from a more efficient location, which at least wouldn't have been partially burned down.

Mystery Monday 155: Murder at the Conference 52

Hello and welcome to a new Mystery Monday,

I hope you have a great week-end. I've been drawing little zentangle cards with positive messages that you can see on my Instagram, crocheting and celebrating my 6 years wedding anniversary. So now I'm just about ready to give you a new little part of Murder at the Conference.

This week we start right were we left off last week:

The alarm o'clock went off and I noticed I had been awaked for quite sometimes, wondering if the snake dream had been a dream or just a bad memory surfacing.

Was I worried that a snake could come in if I let the window open at night? Was it part of my anxiety? I don't think they could though. There was a gap between the garden outside and the balcony even if it was on the ground, and there was a sort of wall all around before the border with the neighbor's. Could snakes climb walls? Definitely!

Was that the reason I couldn't sleep? Snakes? For sure they couldn't go through the mosquito net on the window. Definitely not!

I would have to ask Seiji but then he would say we should use the air conditioner. I was definitely going crazy. I stood up and found my way to the shower. I wasn't feeling completely awake yet, like a never ending state of insomnia.
