Let's start right where we left off last week!

As she poured herself some tea, Dylan flew through the window.
“Hey, just in time before sunrise.” He looked at her surprised. “Who are you?”
She turned around, walked to the window with her cup of tea, closed it and pulled the curtains.
“Did you ever learn about doors?” she pointed at the kitchen door on the opposite side of the room. “Normal people walk through them when they come back home. That avoids surprises.”

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 215

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited.
Sorry guys, I have been away for a while. But now I'm back and the posts are going to come on the normal schedule so you'll be able to read your favorite vampire story on Fridays again!
Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off.

The noise was coming closer, it wasn’t a familiar noise, Sorina knew the sound of the water dripping inside the cells when it rained. She knew the little noise made by the rats feed on the floor or with their mouths when they stopped to taste the air around and moved their moustaches to find the direction to choose. Those noises had become her universe and gave the rhythm to her life. This one was different and louder, she didn’t remember that something could be that noisy and loud and it was painful for her ears. She tried to dig into her memory to remember the noise, she knew there were many sounds out there, they were coming back to her after drinking but she hadn’t seen a rat for more than two weeks and her brain was suffering from the lack of blood. She passed her tongue on her dry lips and on her fangs. When she was this thirsty they would never get back inside her gum. She was glad she could never see herself in a mirror anymore because she knew that she would hate what she saw just like she hated what she had become.

The noises were coming closer. She recognized footsteps. She counted them and decided for two people. They seemed to be full of blood. She smelled the air again, hot blood from two hot bodies and the smell of lavender, she remembered that smell, smells were easier to remember than other things. She liked smells but the smell of the discomposing rats body were making her nauseous after a meal.

She could distinguish voices, a sweet voice and a scary voice. She retracted herself in a corner. She knew she had heard them before, they sounded somehow familiar but it was so long ago that she couldn’t put a face on them. She squatted in the corner. The sweet voice didn’t say much but the scary voice talked a lot.

“Viorel, Viorel,” she repeated to herself in her mind. She didn’t think he would come back but she couldn’t stop calling him in her mind when something was wrong, when she had a nightmare or when she was too thirsty.

Thursday Fiction 209: Parallel Slip

Hi everyone.
I'm sorry for the lack of post lately. I moved to a new apartment and didn't have working internet for a while so I couldn't blog efficiently. Internet is back now so the normal posting is going to resume from today.
Enjoy your new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off.

"Yes of course. Everything you see in the universe is in the past, it take gazillion of years for the light to travel toward us so of course if I ever find something alive out there it would be a primary from of life which we can watch evolving but we'll never know what they evolved into or even if they are more advance than us about it until you get there so we are looking for dinosaurs technically."
She was really deep into it, that at least was no joke.
"But that's not the point her," she continued. "You don't have to let the fainting define you. That's so reductive."
"But that's her life," Alex said passing his head through the door Amy hadn't closed. "I was going to stop your reading to get you to dinner but thanks for inviting me."
"Sorry, she was out of it and I thought you had been things to do," Amy said. "Anyway, your life or not, it doesn't have be linked to the fainting."
"It sort has," Alex said.
"What do you know about what girls want?" Amy answered.
"I'll be right back," Alex left the room without answering Amy.

Dark around the eyes, deep purple lips, messy hair, dressed all in black. Looking at herself in the mirror, she could have thought that she was someone else. Would that be enough for the demons not recognizing her as a human? With the fish’s smell, she stood a chance.
She went down to the kitchen, got some bread out of the cupboard and some jam for breakfast and made herself a cup of tea. While pressing the blade of the knife on the bread she paused and sighed; there was no need. Her stomach wouldn’t let her eat anything, she wasn’t in the mood for any food. She left the knife on the table; someone less stressed out would use it later.
