Thursday Fiction 162: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I wanted to talk and comfort my other self. Her life was one miserable stressful nightmare and I totally saw now why seeing her mother had caused her a panic attack. I placed the notebook carefully back in her bag. They were different than mine but somehow, she had been recording her pain in the same way I had. There was also a book on genetic in there and her university schedule. It was not too hard to figure out what his version of me wanted to be. We both had been totally influenced by our surrounding and especially by our mother. If my mother hadn't been taking me to the hospital all the time. If she had played it cool, maybe I wouldn't have been so obsessed with figuring out my travels and a way to escape her. If this Frederique's mother hadn't been putting her obsession on her maybe she wouldn't be trying to be a psychologist with a genetic minor. This was crazy. Everything I did had something to do with my parents, just like it was for this Frederique with a high level of madness, just like it was for the Michelle version of me on the spaceship, looking for her dad, just like it was the case for Amy. It was as if they had a power to program us, to get some reactions from us and generally in a bad way for them. We were all fighting against it.

Wednesday Snippet 165: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“I can see that you are alive indeed, but not for long,” one of the demon said. He had long dirty hair falling down to his lower back and Kamaril couldn't help but thinking about how uncomfortable he would feel with those, especially when fighting. He could already picture himself grabbing the other demon by the hair for a nice spin but that one also had monumental horn on the top of his forehead. Maybe he should be listening or paying attention a bit to whatever the guy was going to say but he stopped there so Kamaril felt like he had to answer, to try to said something smart.
“That depends,” he said. That wasn't smart but at least that was going to save him some times.
“That depends?” the demon answered intrigued.
“Just kill him and let's be over with him,” one of the three said. He has very short black hair and Kamaril would have almost admired his style if that wasn't for his life being on the line.
“That depends of what are in those boxes. I know some of those guys, what are you doing to them?” he asked. He couldn't help himself, he was supposed to beg for his life but he couldn't find the weakness to do it.

Ayokunle hugged his teddy as if he thought he would never see it ever again.
"What if the spiders come back?" He finally asked worried.
"You know how much mum is always cleaning here all the time. The spiders don't like to be annoyed so they decided to live elsewhere."
"Really?" Ayo's eyes opened large, he was a bit incredulous. "Are you sure?"

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 167

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week

“I said no rush,” I said walking away.
He grabbed me by the arm, I knew he was trying to impress me because I was the new guy.
I pulled my sword half way out and he saw the blood on it as well. He left go of me in a jump. I smiled at him.
“Make sure it arrives but no rush, if I don’t get my answer back, I’ll come visit you again,” I said smiling again before walking away.

He turned the letter in his hand flattening it as if it was as precious as his life. I needed blood. I couldn’t think about anything else. I had drunk a lot already but I wanted more and I wanted something specific, something young and flower tainted with fear. I wanted to taste the blood of a woman. The night was still young and I hurried toward the river. I was supposed to have left Praha for London already, I couldn’t let any traces of murder in Praha tonight. And I didn’t know when I would be able to drink blood again. I had to leave as few clues as possible for the vampire my uncle wouldn’t miss to send after me. But for tonight I had my idea. There were only few people in the street now, couples walking out from restaurant holding each other arms. I waited near the bridge for them to pass by me, wondering which I was going to choose. I had my plan about how to dispose of the bodies. I took my time to chose, discarding those who had drunk too much, those who seemed gloomy or weren’t having a nice time. I felt like I wanted to strike them in the middle of their happiness just like my uncle had done to me. I felt like I was somehow going to take my revenge even though the humans only worked as substitutes. I felt the anger inside of me looking at them I wanted the female, it was insane. I tried to breathe to calm myself down a bit but I couldn’t, I knew that somehow it was the blood of the man in my lady’s room that was working on me, something in it might not have been quite right but at the same time I felt an intense pleasure growing as I knew my victims were coming closer. I finally spotted them. It was a strange couple, the man probably in his fifty was smiling from ear to ear, his smile seemed unnatural as if he had been doing some mischief and was forcing himself to smile. He was wearing grey clothing which seemed old and washed out but still clean. The way he walked I knew that he was carrying a dagger on his right side but it seemed that it would be difficult for him to take it out. He was holding a girl with his left arm, he had passed it around her waist and was pulling her towards him and stroking a touch of hair away from her forehead front time to time as her head wagged on her short, white neck. She was really pretty but she couldn’t be more than fifteen. The way she walked showed that she had drunk some alcohol and I fancied myself to think that it was probably the first time. Her dress was going up on her leg as she walked and she was pulling it back down with a nervous movement from her hand.
