Korea : On the way to Busan

I took the ferry back to Mokpo to spend the night at the same hotel, the beach in front of the hotel was very beautiful. The next morning I took the bus for 부산 (Buｓan). This was maybe the like miss planing in this trip I should have gone directly from 제주 (Jeju) island to 부산 to save time, but the scenery between Mokpo and Busan was really beautiful.

Korea, Jeju island : 외돌개

Then I wanted to see the other waterfall but I didn't have too much time before taking to ferry back to Mokpo. So we went to 외돌개, 외돌개 is a 20 meters volcanic basalt pillar going out of the ocean, it was form from a volcanic eruption about 1.5 million years ago. The legend said that a general of the Korean army scared away the Mongolian invaders using it. The Mongolians soldiers were so scared of the giant rock soldier that they committed suicide.

외돌개 is also a filming location for 大長今 : Dae Jang Geum.

Korea, Jeju : 정방폭포

After the museum contrarily to Xu Fu, we headed East to the 정방폭포  (Jeongbang) Waterfall. The Waterfall is 23 meter high and it is the only waterfall in Asia that falls directly onto the ocean. The legend says that a holy dragon lived underneath it and that that the dragon's spirit is contained in the water which can cure diseases and bring rain during drought. It's a very nice waterfall that you really want to see.

Korea, Jeju : Xu Fu gallery

We then took the direction of 정방폭포 Jeongbang Waterfall but stopped on the way in the Xu Fu gallery. The Xu Fu gallery present the adventure of the Chinese court sorcerer Xu Fu (Seo Bok). According to the legend, Qin Shi Huang emperor sent Xu Fu to find the elixir of life at Mt. Yeongju (now known as Mt. Halla), one of the three sacred mountains where the immortals were said to live.
Xu Fu climbed up Mt. Yeongju with thousands of boys and girls in search of the elixir. When he arrived at Jeongbang Waterfall, he was so captivated by its beauty that he carved “Xu Fu passed by here” in the rock face, and then headed west. The name of Seogwipo city is said to be derived from this inscription.

Korea, Jeju island 大長今 and other dramas

Jeju island is the filming scenery of predilection for a lot of Korean drama including 大長今 (Dae Jang Geum). In the Jeju Folk Village museum there is a lot of area dedicated to those drama and in particular 大長今 mini theme park which present clothing and object used during the drama as well as a summarized story. It was really funny to see the pictures of the drama on the historical site.
