Tuesday Travel 236: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 83

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

“What are we going to do?” Daphy said in Brownie's hand looking at her.

Brownie place a finger on her lips.

“Don't move,” she mouthed silently.

All they could do was wait and then get back to the plan. At least the demon was on the wrong side of the train, from where he flew, he couldn't see the door. Daphy yawned and Bronwie removed her hand from in front her mouth. Daphy had to keep yawning for the hunters to stay asleep and invisible but at the same time it was noisy. Brownie hopped that the demon wouldn't hear her through the open door and figure out it was opened.

The demon moved to the next window. Daphy yawned even more.

“Are you going to be ok?” Brownie asked whispering.

“I don't know, I never held the spell that long while being awake walking around,” she said.

Mystery Monday 233: Murder at the Conference 130

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

First day in China ever and start of my starvation diet, lots of fun, I told to myself on the way back to the hotel.

Something that I hadn't notice was that there was a sort of convenient store on the first floor of my wing of the hotel and it was still opened. That was my luck. No starvation for me after all. I managed to get a sort of spicy cup noodle for diner, it didn't look or tasted anything like the picture on the box said but it wasn't too bad. I wished they had had a conference introduction. It was really strange that there was none. Normally, that was the time when they gave you the program and some goodies. All I knew was that I was expected at eight o'clock in the morning at the university a few streets north. I was to meet with Christa and Ryuichi, I finally managed to catch the student's name, for breakfast around seven. That was really getting up too early. Alistair had already complained that nobody would be there on time.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 447

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

I took the jar and dipped some of the bed sheet in it and cleaned Alexei's body the best I could. I needed the blood to go away to be able to smell what kind of chemical they had put inside of him, if it wasn't too late. If everything had been absorb by his body, I would have to either taste his blood or try and guess. And vampire or not, I would rather have tried and guessed because his poisoned wolf blood was all but appetizing.

Irina walked to the window and sat on the couch. She seemed to be looking threw the curtains. She didn't say anything. She didn't need to talk to hide her fear from herself and I took it as a sign that she was starting to feel safe.

I had problem to get Alexei to be my priority. I wanted to save him, I wanted answers but I wasn't sure that I could do anything for him. Failing to save him would be easy while saving him for him to go rampage and kill people if he was to get back to his wolf was one of my primary concern.

Thursday Fiction 437: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“I share some memories with Romulus in exchange for his. I see almost everything he sees when he is with me, except for the alliance meetings where I only see the business part.”

He put the glass on the small table next to her.

“It's forbidden for me to see the rest of the meeting so I only got a few glimpses, they have some devices to make sure I'm not there, well me and the other ones.”

“How does it feel when you are not there?”

“It's like being asleep,” Eric said. “I'm not really sure how to describe it. I just know that he is using my body and there is not much I can do about it. Sometimes I fought and sort of won but there is no way to always keep him completely out. At first it was really weird but with time, I got used to it and I don't mind as much.”

“I don't know how I'd feel,” Isabelle said.
