Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 437

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

 

"The key is on the left side, in a little hole near the stone that gets out of the wall, can you get it?" I said.

"How do you know that?" she asked but still went to look for the key.

"Blood memory," I said.

She tiptoed and passed her little fingers on the top of the stones. Except for us and the birds outside, everything was silent and I was grateful for it. Irina found the key, and placed it in the lock, it was rusty.

"I can't turn it," she said hitting the key to make it move.

I smiled and walked passed her to seize the key. It was easy for me to have it unlock the door.

"See, you still need me," I said.

Thursday Fiction 427: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“You look pale, how much blood did you lose yesterday?”

“More than just a nose bleed, that's for sure, at least my clothes got to the washing machine so my mother won't notice that.”

“Well, you're slipping so often that she is probably ready to go catch you in the first universe you slip into.”

“Except she can't do that anymore,” Isabelle said. She was relieved at least she was trying to believe that she was, but running away was a big step.

“You'll need to eat every hour, I'll make sure Eric know that,” Romulus said.

“That's insane, I'm not even hungry,” Isabelle said standing up but her head spun and Romulus caught her before she fell back.

“Maybe I should have given you something to eat before making you drink,” he said.

“Maybe.”

Wednesday Snippet 429: Fairy World 70

 

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week. 

"What's all that?" Samira answered.

"Where is Viorel?" Brownie asked.

"He said something about hunting trouble and blood mixing and left the room precipitately," Samira answered, "not that I actually saw him leave though, he was just here and then not here anymore."

"But he left a note for you," Evalynn said and she read. "Don't do anything stupid. V."

"No worries," Brownie laughed.

"Big worries," Evalynn said. "Seeing how you handled the wall."

Brownie looked at the wall, there was no visible trace of any vortex to hell world anywhere. Gideon and Viorel had been at it for days and she solved the problem in a few hours. 

Mum always said: "Nothing better than lazy people when they get started." It wasn't really that she was lazy. It was more that, with people like Evalynn around telling her that she couldn't do anything because she was a human or a girl or a human girl for that matter or even Sahel telling her she shouldn't use magic and that they agreed on it, or people like Gideon spending his entire life surrounded by magic or Viorel with hundred of years of experience, there were times when she could only see her short comings.

Tuesday Travel 225: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 72

 

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

 

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt starts right where we left off last week.

She joined her hands and put them under her left cheek with her head to the side. She closed her eyes for a second when she opened them, Daphy was looking straight at her with eyes opened wide like saucers: “What?” She did the gesture and mouthed: “Now.”

When she started to feel really tired, she almost regretted it. That was the stupidest idea ever. Now she was asleep and there was no way to know if the spell was going to work on the hunter, there was no way to know if she was going to wake up on time to hide Daphy from the demons. The entire wagon had to be smelling like magic. She might even have one of her dream that ended up with her dying and she might even die for real this time. It was the worse idea ever. Brownie started to panic when she once again saw herself as a little girl. She had to wake up. The dream was going faster, the more agitated she became the faster it was becoming. She was going to be buried alive again, she had to stop it, she had to stop it.
