Mystery Monday 222: Murder at the Conference 119

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

I remembered her immediately and felt reassured that we were at the right place, with the right people. Anna Dubrevich from Serbia was probably close to sixty years old, bone skinny with a face filled with life wrinkles and appearing so thin that it seemed she could get out of it any minutes, school teacher type of glasses on her nose and a white bun to attach her hair. She didn't look like a physicist, but more like one of the little old lady you could encounter at the knitting groups, talking about their grandchildren and their cats incessantly and always knitting scarves or socks. But I would have to beg you to different. This lady knew how to light a match with a nedium-yag laser and she had been the one teaching me just that to piss off my experimental instructor at that time.

I came from an experimental physics master. Not because I ever wanted to be and experimenter, at least not after I had a taste of it at least, but because that particular master also contained all the quality to learn about every specific fields of atomic and molecular physics.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 436

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

"I don't know what the effect of the stone would have on him, it could restore him as a wolf and then we would be in trouble. I need a safe place where to threat him the traditional way," I said.

"But that's going to take forever," she said.

"The power of the stone is not to be abuse, it is dangerous," I said.

"But you use it all the time," she answered.

"No, I don't."

I finally realised that Irina was talking not because she really wanted a conversation but because she was scared. She was only a little girl after all.

"Irina, I promise you that everything is going to be alright," I said.

"You can't promise that," she answered looking straight in front of her.

There was a heavy wooden door and through the small window in the center at the top of it, I had a small glimpse at the outside. The moon was shining between the clouds and trees. Irina ran to the door and tried the handle but it was locked.

Thursday Fiction 426: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

“Just a second,” she said.

She opened the bottle and took a large swing of the brown liquid in her mouth swallowing it as fast as possible. It burned all the way through.

“Feeling better?”

“Not really,” she said coughing.

“You'll get used to it,” Romulus said adding more disinfectant, somehow, it didn't hurt as bad as the first time.

“I hope not,” Isabelle answered.

She kept her eyes fixed on her cut as Romulus stitched her despite him urging her look away. She wasn't afraid of knowing, she was more scared of the unknown, of feeling what he was doing without being able to put an image on it, looking away wouldn't change the reality, just make it hard to grasp.

The alcohol didn't take the pain away for long, by the second stitch, it made her stomach feel funny and by the last, she thought she was going to be sick.

Wednesday Snippet 428: Fairy World 69

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. This week, we continue with Fairy World unedited just where we left off last week

Brownie entered the room, shadow on her heals and left the books fall heavily on the living room table making Samira jump awake on her feet.

"You shouldn't put your feet on the table, mum won't be happy about it," Brownie said.

"Why do I care what your mum think?" Samira said.

"Because she is not very impressed by demons' wings and big mouth," Brownie answered taking her herbs and crystal out of her bag.

Evalynn rolled her eyes at them.

"Where have you been anyway?" She asked.

"The library and the kitchen," Brownie said moving a little green bottle in front of her.

"She is not better, thanks for asking," Evalynn said.

"I know she is not going to get any better without help so there was no point asking," Brownie answered.
