Tuesday Travel 162: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 9

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

 

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches. 

 

The excerpt, we start right where we left off last week.

 

She looked at her bag that was still on the couch above her head. Dylan's box was in there too. She hadn't communicated with anyone since after the fire to tell them everything was ok but she didn't want to talk to them too much either. Somehow, it was strange, she had always been surrounded by people, never allowed to be truly alone. She had had to help with her younger siblings, listen to Hitomi's problems or Grenadine's never ending chatter. And there was the cacophony of all the instruments being practiced at home. And that was without even considering the demon side of things. When Sahel came home with his friends and yet another problem. She had never had time alone as far as she could remember, except when she was doing research at the library but even then, that wasn't really the quieter since there was always someone coming up to do research or more likely make a mess. Anyway, Dylan's box was there in case she needed it but it was also out of sight so Daphy wouldn't be interested in it. Everything was safe and secure.

Mystery Monday 158: Murder at the Conference 55

Hello and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.

I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“Well, you see how you feel that your brain is still asleep when you wake up too early in the morning? For me my brain is generally clear but it's the rests of my inside that are still asleep for two or three more hours. I can't just get up and eat like you do and go back to sleep. I'm biologically not working that way.”

“That's weird,” Seiji said.

“I think that's genetic actually, I suspect that my dad is the same, he used to be nauseated in the morning and he has the same vomiting pattern.”

“Which I don't want to know about just now,” Seiji said showing me his okonomiyaki mix.

“Right! Though it could be that I'm lacking iron so I don't have enough oxygen in my blood to deal with digestion in the morning.”

“Talking about that, don't forget to take your pills,” he said giving me my bottles of supplement.

“Yes, mum,” I said.

“What?”

I smiled. He didn't get that sort of joke. Actually I had to explain to him every single meme I would laugh at on the internet and he still would hardly get it. It was weird.

“You were probably born on an island,” I said.

WeWriWar 385: Sun Kiss 8

Hello everybody!

This week, we are jumping ahead a bit from where we left off last time:

 

 

She took a deep breath and started to read again, pen in hand when a huge thing came crashing on her window. She jumped out of her seat almost making her cup fall on her notes. She was used to have birds crashing on the window during the day when the curtains were removed for washing but this was different. It was night already. There was no way a bird was going to crash at night, even if her window was the only one with the lights on. There were no owl this big. This was something else. No, it had to be a bird. What else could fly into her window? 

 

 

 

 

 

 This what I was listening while writing. 

"Another dead bird in my hand, they keep crashing into my window." 

 The crash on Jane's windows was planed years before this song even existed but it looks like a cosmic encounter.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 373

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.

"It doesn't work this way. I gave you the merchandise. You give me my money," the hunter said coming closer to the Jäger.

"Either I give you the sum I estimate fits now, or I'll give you something closer to the damaged good worth later," the Jäger said. "In any case you didn't fulfilled your part of the agreement."

"I want my money, every cents you promised me and I want it now," the hunter said.

I saw the feet of the Jäger slightly lift from the ground. Sound of sword drew out from under the Jägers robe. The feet of the Jäger where once again firm in the ground and the hunter took a step back.

"You didn't expect priests to be armed," the Jäger said after dropping his sympathetic voice. "As I'm kind enough, I'm going to renew my proposal. Come tomorrow morning and you'll get the money you deserve."

The Jäger turned away as the others carried the wolf once again toward the church.

"Is that it?" the shorter hunter asked. "Is he going to get away with it?"

"For now," the hunters' chief said. "Now get into the carriage."
