Mystery Monday 74: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

“New, I never saw it before… hum…” I started, that was getting complicated. I didn’t know how to say that the poor fictive dog I was talking about seemed lost in Japanese. You see in Japan, no dog walks the streets alone.
“A white dog?” the old woman said.
She had finally found what she had been looking for. She moved toward us. I was always amazed with the way old Japanese people moved. I mean in France people don’t move that fast at that age, she looked really old like eighty something years old and at the same time she moved as if she was fifty or so, not even bent forward or anything, straight as an i.

Alice's out door photo session

I took a poll Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to see if I should take Sarang or Alice out for a photo session.

The poll results were 6 to 3 in favor of Alice. With:

Facebook 3-0
Instagram 2-2
Twitter 1-1

So I took Alice outside today for a walk!

There are still a few flowers blooming at the entrance of my building.

Then we climbed the stairs to go to the river. Yatta we made it to the top!

Now we just have to go down to the other side, preparing to slide down there!
It rained and the grass is all wet so we have to stay on the road!

Alice: I can see myself in the pond!

Me: Are you sure!

Alice: Yes, Yes, take a look!

A little after that we realised that we had lots our little cat friend so we had to go half the way back to find him. Someone was already looking at him when we approached but didn't actually take him. Inside, I was like "Hey, that's MY cat."
I think both Alice and Hana (That's the name of the Zap Cat) got a bit scared.

Alice: I thought I would never see you again!!
Everything is going to be ok now
Having a little break on the steps.
Alice: Look over there, the sky tree!

Alice: Can we go home now that sun is getting in my eyes.

To be honest that wasn't the best time of the day for a session on this side since the sun was coming down and it was pretty hot. Though at this time of the year the sun is on this side almost all day.

Climbing trees on the way back. I tried another one but it was already taken by a huge bug.
Compulsory picture with Hibarichan otherwise she gets mad.
Now after all those emotions, it's time for a nice cup of tea.

Thursday Fiction 279: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I didn't have time to hear what she said. The next thing I heard was a honking from the street nearby. The light from the cars were reaching the ceiling and passing like ghosts from the opening the curtains didn't cover. I was back in my room with a strange feeling. I had talked to my other self. She was me but at the same time she was so different than me. I didn't understand how this could happen, I didn't understand how I was able to talk to her.
I reached the desk and turned on the lamp. I needed to write it all down. My diaries were in a mess from the record we had been entering in the computer. I was afraid, afraid that it was all a dream, something I created to cope with the black out and the way my mother had been reacting to them. I was afraid that I was now able to communicate with my other self because I had talked about it with Alex.
There didn't seem to be anything special in that particular universe. I had never doubted myself before. I had known from childhood that those trips were trips and not just dreams but I started to think it was convenient to go traveling through Asia while the other kids were on school trip. It was convenient to save Amy just before meeting her. Before meeting her, not after, I couldn't know, entropy low and time arrow that can't be reverse. Logic would want everything I saw to be different universes. I took a deep breathe and excelled slowly. I needed to trust myself. The trip with Amy was my proof even if my only one and I needed to cling at it until I got something else. The new fact was, I could talk to this version of me, the old fact was, I never really tried to talk to any version of me before except Michelle on the spaceship. Now why was it easier to talk to this one. What was so special about her?

“Inu,” I finally said. A dog.
I didn’t know what suddenly got into me but knowing about the picture behind me I couldn’t talk about him, not to anyone, let alone to this old policeman.
“A dog?” he said looking at me suspiciously.
“A small, white dog,” I said, “on the street near my house.”
“What about it?” the policeman asked.
