Wednesday Snippet 273: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

The angels always used the oldest original Greek version. It was strange that the bible seemed out of place in an angel's office. Isakael left the book where he had found it, making sure it was aligned properly with the protective set.
He opened the first drawer, here again, he found nothing, white pen-pal paper and envelops, as well as some more ink supply for the fountain pen and wax of different color for Ezechiel to apply his seal at the back of letters. Of course he was probably carrying the seal with him at all time.
Isakael opened the next drawer, it was empty but something surprised him a little. There was white powder in it. He had seen that kind of powder before but couldn't remember where. I put his finger in in, it was light and still sticky. It had no smell and seemed to be shining in the sunlight.
“Pixie dust,” Isakael said out loud, “the same kind of powder covering Kallisto's hair, just in white instead of green.”
He wondered what pixie dust could be doing here. It linked Ezechiel to the fairy's world. Something here wasn't quite right. Isakael was certain that there hadn't been contact between the angels and the fairies for a long time. The fairies' bare existence told to new angels had being lies and fairy tales. Why would Ezechiel have contact with the fairies now? And Why would the angels still pretend that fairies didn't exist if he did?

Tuesday Travel 62: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"Demons can," Brownie said.
They all looked at her.
"At least some of them," she added, that was true and that was awkward.
"Don't tell me you're also part of the crazy that believe in that stuff, demons and all," Samuel said. "We already had enough with one."
The girl with the strand of blue hair extended her hand to Brownie.
"I'm Samantha. Nice to see that there are some nice people around," she said, rolling her eyes in Samuel's direction.
"I'm Brownie. Tell me more about those Lions. What do they look like when they are not, in fire shape."
That sounded like Yue and Sahel. The Lions. Except Sahel and Yue changed into phoenixes, birds. And they didn't need to change to control the fire it just happened sometimes. Brownie wasn't really sure how they did it or why. But the fire here would probably help Sahel if she could tell him about it. Except she realized what had happened earlier, that she had broken up with him and had left him. Maybe when she was to come back, her life would be very different, maybe he wouldn't even be there to share her new secrets. She suddenly wasn't sure the trip was really worth it, because she might lose him forever this time.
"I don't want to be mean or anything but the only interesting things about this festival is that they have a lot of bands playing in the evening, the rest is bullshit," Samuel said.
"Come on man, let the girls have their fun with the lions," Josh answered laughing.
"Why come here? You can always listen to music in your freaking hole 10 hours of bus away," Samantha said.

Mystery Monday 65: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

I took the memory stick only, I didn’t bother taking my wallet or passport with me, I was just going to drop it in the nearest police box. There was always one or two policemen there. Most of the time, if it was the older one, he would tell me that I shouldn’t cross with red light when I was coming back late from work, even when there was no cars to be seen. I cross the street whenever and wherever, I’m French, that’s part of my culture I believe.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 280

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

The Priest in Vienna wasn’t a lonely priest who had lost his way away from the church preaching and decided to hunt vampire on his own. He was part of a very special organization inside of the church itself and that precise organization which called themselves Das Kreuz des Fledermäuse Jäger had been observing vampires for hundreds of years, capturing them, testing them, dissecting them, vivisecting them with for only goal to discover the secret of their longevity. They referred to us as an abomination against god and against nature. They compared us to bats. They said we had all the characteristic of the bats except for the sense of directions. They were given us powers that I didn’t even know existed like telling that we could read minds, walk through walls, move object with our spirit. I laughed a lot about it in front of Irina, telling her that it was just tales created by humans to scared little girls. But when I was alone at night, I tried, I concentrate my mind on her room to listen to her dreams, I concentrated my mind on objects to try moving them and I ran into a wall hitting my forehead first on it without any other results then to give myself a large blue bump that I quickly fixed with the philosopher stone. I was still using it every night to find new memories about myself. Some were good but I had to interrupt some because they were way to hard to bear. Most of them involved Uncle Vlad and his torturing mind. It seemed that there hadn’t been a single day in my life when he hadn’t torture a human or a human born vampire for his only pleasure. He liked the show and to make us watch. I would have loved to see what the Jäger thought about him and I was reading avidly every part Irina had lead me through word after word, page after page to see if there wasn’t any mention of uncle Vlad but so far, there were none. The Jäger had only been studying and following itinerant vampires who had come close to them. It was a dangerous work because the vampire could smell them and bite them. Some of them had been transformed but a rescue mission had always managed to capture them and kill them. The former Jäger were treated with a lot more respect than there sire, they were hold captive for as long as the transformation last, and the Jäger would study on them the effect of blood starvation.
