Tuesday Travel 15: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“We agreed you needed a detox, and to stop with the witchcraft,” Sahel said.
“No, you told me I had to stop, you decided I was addicted without asking me about how I felt, why I did it, what I actually did.” “For Hell sake, last time you tried something big you ended up prisoner in the Demon World, come an tell me again it's not dangerous.” Sahel interrupted.
“And you drunk a potion without knowing what it was, tell me how that's not reckless,” Brownie said.
“We are not here to talk about me or my actions, I learned from them. We are here to talk about you because you haven't.”
“I am my own person, I was before you even existed, I do not have to obey you. I can decide what is right all by myself,” Brownie said.
“I love you and you'll end up dead,” Sahel answered.
“Don't you dare tell me you love me in the middle of an argument.”
“But it's true.”
The waffle machine choose the perfect timing to be ready and Brownie turned around so fast to take care of it she almost spilled her tea. He knew how to push her buttons. She had to get out of here. There was no stopping magic, even if she wanted too, she couldn't because if she did she would end up dead.
“I'll be dead without magic,” Brownie said.
“I'll protect you and you know it, I was going to get Seti back as soon as I could,” he said.
“It would have been too late,” Brownie said.
“You don't trust me.”

Mystery Monday 15: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

He stepped out of the car and slammed the door behind him. Of course, he had been the driver. Hiding his anger seemed easy. Kaji remembered the guy's nervousness, in the way he would always hold onto his pen opening and closing the lead, and clenching his fist around it in a compulsive manner when things weren't going the way he planned. Kaji thought about a reaction to the stress of a busy lifestyle but now he knew, never trust someone who seemed they would break inanimate objects out of frustration.

The man opened the trunk himself, his remorseful companion reluctant to help.

WeWriWar 288: Demon Soul

Welcome to a new excerpt of DEMON SOUL for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Pre-Plot:
Brownie is a normal girl, or so she thinks. She likes to chat with her sisters about random things, she likes fashion and she is member of the fashion club at school. But one day, as her little brother gets really sick because of a curse placed on him, she meets this really strange guy who cures him absorbing the baby's sickness within himself. As he is about to fall from his new acquired fever, Brownie sees Yue's soul and immediately falls in love with him. But Yue is not a human, Yue is a demon.
Brownie and Yue will built their love story until....

Plot:
Until Yue's soul is stolen. There is nothing left of their love. The purple light dancing in Yue's grey eyes is gone. Forever? Not quite. Brownie is desperate to find it back. And to get a soul stolen by demons, she needs to go deep into dark magic! But Brownie is not a witch, she is just looking for a spell powerful enough to bring her love back. When an amateur starts playing with strong magic without preparation and without caring for the consequences, things turn wrong...

Let's start right where we left off last week!

“What do you mean?” Brownie asked taken aback.
If Dylan was always considered to be funny and ignorant, Viorel, on the contrary was like the living encyclopaedia of the night world and magic.
“That makes you invisible to demons, I suppose,” he said walking away and turning the medallion in his hand.
Brownie jumped on Dylan punching him with both fists.
“You knew it, you knew it and you told me to cut the fish!” she was yelling at him furiously.
Dylan laughed even more.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 229

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“I know,” she answered.
“They will shame you and frighten you and make you prey on your knees until they bleed for expiation of a fault that you didn’t commit,” I said.
“I know but, I need it, I need answers I need to know that I am who I am because it is the way it should be, even if it is because of the devil, God will save me, if I am worth saving,” she answered.
I took her arm to force her to look at me. I wanted to shake the church out of her like I had wanted to do it for Sorina. I didn’t want to see herself torture her mind because of what a man in a cold stone building decided reality was. But when I saw her confused face, I stopped myself and my anger calmed a little bit.
“What si you like about yourself when I bite you?” I asked.
“I liked that I didn’t need to hide anymore, I like that I could read in front of people out loud, making my voice heard and that they would praise me for it, I like that I could wear nice dresses, go to the ball, listen and play music,” she said.
She looked away again and pushed my hands from her arm before holding it in front of her chest.
“Was it how life was for you before you came to Bohemia?” I asked.
“Yes,” she whispered as scared by the words.
I was glad that the carriage stopped again because I wanted to get out of the conversation. I knew that the girls drunken from in my Transylvanian village hated to be drunken from and always tried to escape it but I realized that it could have been that they were just feigning to hate it while desiring to go to that world of dream. I wanted to know. I needed to know how it felt but I didn’t want to push it too much on Irina.
“we will go to church tomorrow morning before leaving if you want to,” I said opening the door.
“You will go with me?” she asked amazed.
“I don’t really have a choice, do I?” I said.
She bit her lips again standing up to get out of the carriage still carrying her cat that seemed a bit disoriented by the sudden awaking.
