Mid-Week Tease: Blue Angel
There is no Hump Day Hook snippet today but there is still Mid-Week Tease, so for a change, I won't be posting about Attic Mirror.
Instead, here is a little excerpt of my current NaNoWriMo project: Blue Angel.
It's totally unedited as I only just wrote this part yesterday.

“There is some
light over there,” Odeon said.
Torsti looked around
everywhere but without success.
“I still can't see
a damn thing and I thought your eyes were closed,” he said.
Odeon walked away
from the wall confidently.
“Wait!” Torsti
said trying not to fall without his marks.
“They are closed, I
told you it was better,” Odeon answered.
“So now you can see
in the dark,” Torsti answered.
“I can't see in the
dark, I can't see with my eyes closed either, just I can feel the
light, I just know it's there, I don't need to be attached to my eyes
and rely on them all the time, I'm alright,” Odeon said a bit
annoyed, “Now if you could shut up and let me listen to what's
around, that would help.”
“Sure,” Torsti
answered.
He tried to look past
Odeon to see if there was really something in this direction but
there was still no light what-so-ever. He wondered if it wasn't
Odeon's imagination. He could only hear the water drop, somewhere
close from the stalactite above him, he had to protect his head to
make sure it wasn't hitting them. Odeon seemed just find, walking on
the side when one was coming close. Torsti couldn't repress a laugh.
“What's so funny?”
Odeon asked.
“I was just
thinking, you're a bit like a bat,” Torsti said. “I think I
should start call you Batdem.”
“And what should I
call you then?” Odeon said shaking his head.
“No idea, but
seriously, how do you know where we are going? How do you know that
we are not going to fall in a hole at the next step?” Torsti asked.
“Oh, I didn't think
about holes on the ground,” Odeon said. “I'll be careful now.”
Here is my NaNoWriMo progress bar. I'm heading for 75k.

Hump Day Hook: Halloween Special
I know you already had a Hump Day Hook post yesterday and now you are probably asking yourself: "What the hell is she doing?" Or not cause I don't know what's in your head actually. But anyway, yesterday I was a little bit confused because it was Hump Day Hook and we also planned the Halloween Special and nobody seemed to be willing to play with me yesterday so I just decided to write a new special post for HALLOWEEN cause otherwise I wouldn't have written anythings special and just forget Halloween all together at least on the virtual side of my life. OK but enough explanation, here is the Hook! (Other spooky hooks here)
Here is an extract of Teresa's diary from Attic Mirror.
Friday 3rd
August 1923
I couldn’t write about what
happened yesterday last night. My hands were shaking too much.
Thinking about it, my heart is still shaking now and I’m not sure I
will finish all I have to say in one go. Samantha got me a black
dress as soon as we were sure that everybody else would be sleeping.
It was about midnight and very dark. I’m not use to wear that kind
of sexy outfit but she said that the spirits generally
like it. While I dressed up, she had drawn some symbols with a chalk
on my bedroom floor, under a carpet so that we could hide them
with it afterwards. She told me to sit in front of her in the
circle and started to enlighten candles and saying strange things. I
knew I had to be quiet and concentrate. I didn’t know on what I was
supposed to concentrate so I just followed her moves. It was a
bit comical at that point at least. She opened a piece of
paper with an alphabet on it and Yes and No and put it
in the middle of the circle between us with a glass
upside down on it. She started to hold it with two fingers of her
left hand and I added mine on it as well. Then she asked.
“Spirits are you here?” I
almost wanted to laugh. I would probably have laughed if she hadn’t
been so scary all along.
And the glass moved to the Yes.
I thought it was Samantha moving it like a bad joke but then she
asked again “What’s your name?” and the glass moved to the
letters, she even removed her fingers as the spirit in the glass
seemed so powerful and it continue to move as she wrote. “Sam
Grant”.
She asked “When did you die?”
and the spirit answered “silly question.”
Samantha had a little laugh.
“How?”
“Decapitated.”
I was really getting scared why
couldn’t we have found the spirit of a nice grand-mother or of a
writer or artist, why did it have to be a criminal?
But Samantha seemed to be
really enjoying it.
“Do you know magic?”
“Yes”
“Can you teach me?”
“What do you want?”
“Open a passage between two
worlds” she said looking at my scared face proudly, her magic was
working.
“Which world?” the spirit
said.
Samantha had an interrogating
look on her face. I gathered my courage and thought about David.
“Do you know Teneria?” I
asked.
“Stay away of Teneria or
you’ll die,” the spirit started to write but I could hear the
words resonating in my head as I felt the glass shaking my hand, arm
and my all body. I wasn’t myself anymore. I was pushed away of
myself by something coming from the glass. I remember seeing Samantha
sizing the glass and throwing it at the wall and then nothing. I woke
up in my bed. Samantha was shaking me to bring me back to
consciousness. My checks and chin were wet with saliva.
I finally muttered that I was fine but my head was hurting like hell
and Samantha started to laugh and to tell me how awesome it
had been and that she had never seen it
happen this way before. All I could do was to…

We will continue with Attic Mirror. Today Hitomi is thinking that she is becoming crazy, she just heard some voice coming from inside the mirror apparently...
“I don’t even know where that
is?” Hitomi said glad that he finally seemed to understand her.
After all Teneria wasn’t on any maps she had studied in class.
He took a deep breath wondering
how he could be thinking so fast, everything around him had been so
boring lately.
“Do you mean that behind this
mirror”, he said touching it on his side, “There is another
world?”
Hitomi was not really thinking much, just trying not to freak out
at the bizarre meeting. She came closer and started to examine the
mirror closely. Concentrating on something made her calm down a
little more.
“I guess so, there seems to have
some inscriptions on it but I can’t read the alphabet”, she said
after few minutes.
“I got some strange drawings on
my side too”, he said “but I never thought that they could
actually mean something.”
She took her notebook and started
to draw the symbols to show them to him. He went to take a sheet of
paper on his desk and drew as well. They then started to compare.
“It’s strange”, she said,
“it looks like they are the same letters but in the opposite
direction.”

We will continue with Attic Mirror. Today Hitomi is thinking that she is becoming crazy, she just heard some voice coming from inside the mirror apparently...
“ He was finally not that scary
after all.
“What’s your name?” she
asked.
“Demian Aaron Carter”, he said
looking proud. Seeing that she didn’t react he added, “I’m the
son of the explorer.”
“Oh”, she said not knowing at
all about any explorers of that name. She noted for herself to have a
look in the library even though she had always believed that people
had stopped exploring the world long ago.
“Never mind”, he answered
sitting back on his bed felling weird that someone never heard about
his father. “What’s your?”
“Hitomi”, she answered.
“Hitomi, just Hitomi?” he
asked a bit puzzled. It was a really short name.
“Yes, just Hitomi”, she
answered smiling.
“It’s a nice one”, he said
smiling hoping he didn’t offence her with his question.
“It’s Japanese”, Hitomi
added knowing that her name wasn’t really a common one for
everybody in his part of the world. “What are you reading?”
“The new book about Ylocs that
my mum bought me yesterday”, he answered thinking that Japanese was
probably a kind of ethnic minority from the mountains.
“Ylocs?” Hitomi thought out
loud. She first thought she didn’t hear well, she was pretty sure
that the word Yloc wasn’t in the dictionary. “What’s that?”
she added.
“You don’t know what an Yloc
is? Are you kidding me?” He exclaimed stupefied.
“No, I don’t know, is it
something famous?” she asked a bit dubitative, boy used to make big
fuse about unknown things all the time, like football players or
music bands.
“Famous is not really the word I
would have used. They are more indispensable for most things, from
which planet are you coming down? You’re strange.” He said trying
to laugh and still thinking that she was trying to make fun of him.
“I really don’t know what it
is, you’re the strange extraterrestrial of the two”, she said
getting a little upset.
“I’m not an extraterrestrial,
I’m from right here, I was born in his house in Teneria, just like
you but not knowing about Yloc is the strangest thing I ever heard
of, how do you get you’re food and mail and travel and all?” he
pleaded a bit afraid that she might leave.
“What is Teneria?” Hitomi
asked, she was a bit lost but new words were catching her attention
as usual like nothing else.
“Wait a minute”, he said, “You
mean that you’re not from Teneria.”

Hump Day Hook 12: Attic Mirror
It's Wednesday Hump Day Hook again. Find the other writers here. It's also Mid-Week Tease, you can find the other writers here.
If you miss my other hooks, they can all be found here.
We will continue with Attic Mirror. Today Hitomi is thinking that she is becoming crazy, she just heard some voice coming from inside the mirror apparently...
“You’re not crazy, well
otherwise we both are but I’m pretty sure I’m not and I’m
pretty sure I’m awake too,” he said putting down his book to come
closer.
She turned to look at him again a
bit confused. He was smiling nicely to her and she kind of liked that
smile.
“Are you some kind of ghost?”
she asked
“And are you some kind of
spirit?” he answered laughing a little.
She was looking more and more
confused and really didn’t know what to think of all that and he
could see it. He was a bit confused too but didn’t want to let her
know.
“Listen, I kind of think that
it’s pretty cool, I mean to have you appear like that in my mirror.
It had always been weird and reddish. I always thought something was
wrong with it. But, if you’re feeling awkward, I’ll just put
something on my mirror and leave you alone so that you can enjoy
yours,” he said turning around to get a blue cover with strange
animals drawn on it on his bed. “You’ll just have to knock at the
mirror when you go away so that I can use mine again,” he said
preparing himself to throw the cover on his side of the mirror.
He was looking a bit sad his cover
in his hands and it made Hitomi calm down a little.
“Wait, wait, it’s just weird
but I have seen weirder, I see weirder everyday actually,” she said
thinking about how one of her brothers had become invisible earlier
to make another one of them explode some bottles of paint.
“Really, you must have a very
excited life,” the boy said, happy that she had decided to stay a
bit.
“Not really, it’s more that
things happen around me,” she said. She had always seen herself as
the passive spectator for her siblings’ crazy life.
They were
always so full of energy that at time she felt like they were
draining hers out of her body.
“I know the feeling, you look at
them wishing for something extraordinary to be yours but it’s only
happening to others,” the boy said smiling as if she was the
extraordinary thing he had been waiting all along.
“Pretty much, I mostly have…”
she started and hesitated. She wasn’t sure if it was too safe to
share her thoughts with a complete stranger.
“The bad consequences,” he
finished making her feel like he was maybe not that much of a
stranger after all.
“Yeah,” she said and they
laughed together.”
