Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.
I followed the smell. The Jägers once again seemed very sure of themselves. I didn't met anyone in the corridor. They had only sent three men to get me and nobody to come look for them yet. It was surprising and I wondered if they knew their men were dead and that I was inside. It might as well have been a trap. Hopefully, the barrier that kept me out earlier wasn't meant to keep me in.
I walked in the dark corridor blowing the candles as I went or more accurately beheading them with my sword. The sword felt a lot lighter than usual as well and I wasn't used to that sort of strength.
I had strange idea dancing in my head, images of the boy's life as a Jäger. It was interesting and confusing and I couldn't stop to analyze them now. They looked pretty much like hallucinations. It was hard to focus at time. I stopped in a large room and hid in the red curtains hanging near the window, intending to let it pass. Did they sent that boy on purpose to get me? I wondered why I hadn't smelled the poison in his blood. But that was not poison. My body was fine, it was just my head. And finally I saw it. The ritual and the dance to which he had participated. It was not something the Jägers would do. He wasn't one of them, that's why he had been asking all these questions. He came from another faith and they used herbs to put their spirit high. The herbs had lost their effect on him but it was my first time. I knew about these ceremonies. I needed to go through it to let the thoughts run. It wasn't the right moment or the right place. I closed my eyes and waited. There was no way to delay the effect of the herbs in my blood and even if I could delayed them, there was no way for me to know how long I would have to fight.
