Thursday Fiction 355: Parallel Slip: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction. We continue where we left of last week, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

The dessert came. Her mother always have patisserie delivered when the alliance was meeting. It was one of the good things available in this universe. Some universes had really little sugar to go on and it was reserved for the rich, not that any member of the alliance had any money problem. Isabelle couldn't stop thinking of the piece of paper in her pocket. It seemed that her thoughts were jumping out of her head, he had to force herself to make small talk with her mother or Romulus knowing that he knew that she had a secret with him.

She was so impatient to read the message that it seemed to be burning her leg through the thin fabric of her black trousers when she finally stood up to lead the last guess to the door. Romulus had come about one hour earlier, whatever was in the message, she truly hoped that he wasn't waiting for her somewhere because there was no way for her to get out of her daughter duty. Seriously, she hoped she had been granted over diner too so that she wouldn't have to see how delighted her brother was with Mike as he shook his hand at the door. Her mother too was smiling and Isabelle was forcing herself to focus on the matter at hand.
