Thursday Fiction 340: Parallel Slip: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction. We continue where we left of last week, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

She looked at herself in the mirror. Her face had turned red with agitation. She needed to wear something smart for diner if her mother was to keep the members of the alliance as guess or if that Amy was there. She couldn't look bad in front of that one. Her having already invaded her privacy while she was in her bathrobe was already bad enough. So time for make up and a dress? Or would a pair of jeans be better.

She took the comb and started with entangling her long blond hair, idea about her plan forming in her head. She was motivated and frantic but she also knew that she would give up at the first sign of difficulty, that's what she had always done so far. Giving up on everything she had started every time her mother had been too critical about it. She had never finished learning to play the piano, had dozen of discarded language books in all corners of her closet, had a canvas half finished and some pompom that were supposed to make a caterpillar but she never sew them together and she didn't have enough of them anyway. It was insane. Every time she had started something, her mother had been behind her to make her stop.
