Thursday Fiction 329: Parallel Slip: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction. We continue to follow Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

The manipulation of emotion, the way she always wanted her to feel guilty about something, the way she was never good enough despite her mother's best efforts. But it was all smokes to your eyes, it stunk and forbade her to see the true of her mother for what she really was.

“Amy might be bored with someone like me then, it's good that I'm grounded and have to stay in my room, alone,” Isabelle said forcing herself not to smile.

She had learned it from her mother, how to make her face say the opposite of how she felt, she hated it but that was her only weapon in this family.

“You better get dressed and do your bed and for the love of the gods dry your hair before getting sick. You still have to come down for dinner, grounded or not,” her mother said turning around. She left the room followed by Amy. Isabelle waited for them to close the door but that too was a thing her mother wasn't in the habit of doing so Isabelle tiptoed behind them and closed the door herself. She wanted to flank it but that would just get her another lecture. There was not way to let your emotion out in this house. She came back to her bed and screamed in her pillow.

The only thing she did to get grounded was to say that she was going to meet the impostor herself if nobody was to do it. Damn she should have kept her mouth shut. But she wanted to meet the impostor so bad. The girl was just a few month older than her and she was already at university and she had that bizarre problem that she fainted every time she travelled and seemed to have no idea where she was going when she did and Isabelle's mother was unable to follow her. Isabelle wanted to know how that felt, that kind of freedom, to be able to go wherever she wanted and to slip into another universe without any boundaries. Just being there and never think about your hold into your own reality. That would be awesome, but that was also so scary, what if she never get back to her body, what if she stayed into another universe forever and never came back to her own body. In a way, if she could just get rid of her mother, Isabelle would have loved that. Just being somewhere else, almost anywhere would have done.
