Welcome to Mystery Monday. This week, we continue with Murder at the Conference.
Let's get back where we left off with chapter 2 last time.
It was his first interview. He had applied a lot but being suspected of murdering your brother and bringing down the pharmaceutical company which actually murdered him for a chemical weapon wasn't really a plus on a curriculum vitae.
“That's great, anything you're really into?”
“Actually yeah, they are going to pay me to model maths on computer, so it couldn't be easier.”
“Mathematical research,” I said.
“Sort of...” Seiji answered turning back to his batter.
He didn't want to do research, he didn't trust researchers and he trusted the company employing them even less. I wonder why they hadn't recruited him to fight organised terrorism after he had brought evidence about the chemical weapon. He told me it wasn't the Japanese way. That he would probably be better dead in the mind of the people high above because he had broken all kind of laws to bring the scheme to light. It sort of made sense and it sort of didn't. They knew it was him, still they didn't have any proofs to take any action against him. Still it wasn't really reassuring. He wanted to go back to Australia but I was here and he couldn't leave the country just yet. All his visas were on hold for an undetermined amount of time.
“If you don't want to do research, don't take that job, we'll manage differently,” I said.
