Welcome to Mystery Monday. This week, we continue with Murder at the Conference.
Let's get back where we left off with chapter 1 last time.
I really wasn't in the mood for aesthetic changes, especially when that required to have the physics sort of dumb down. I was going to an international conference for physicists, not a sort physics game for a larger public. I waited for more without saying anything.
“Did you make all the changes I asked before? It still looks like there is not enough datas in the table,” he said.
“That's the same table as in the paper,” I said. “With all the references.”
I felt like I was repeating myself. This was meaningless.
“But we removed some of the datas in the conference paper,” he said.
“This is the table of the submitted paper,” I answered.
He sighed. Seriously, I should have been the one sighing. I was giving him information he should have known about.
“Then make sure you have the same amount of significant digit in everywhere,” he said grabbing his red pen, putting the poster neatly on his spotless desk and removing the extra numbers I had so painstakingly tried to let in.
He went through it again. I couldn't see what he was doing but I could imagine, changing words, removing commas, turning sentences around so that they wouldn't fit anymore. I just stood there and waited feeling uncomfortable with nothing else to do. He finally looked up and handed me the poster back. Once again, it was all red.
“Just bring it back when you're done.”
I looked it over.
“Give me ten minutes.”
And I was out, closing the door behind me.
