They landed in a
deserted parking lot. There weren't so many cars in the Demon World
but demons liked huge extended spaces. It was easier to fight and
easier to land there too. Torsti looked around. The place still
seemed asleep, not everybody had to get up with the sun.
“Better get to a motel
or something, we need a shower if we don't want to scare everyone
away,” Odeon said.
Torsti hid a smile happy
to see his brother finally take some interest in his own life.
“Over there, it doesn't
look too good but it would have to do,” he said.
The building seemed to be
half falling apart, the name of the motel was missing two letters and
only one of the remaining was still glowing. The wooden curtains at
the windows had been torn apart.
“It's not a good
neighborhood, I'm almost glad Lonan is not here to see that,” Odeon
said.
Torsti felt like his
little brother was probably seeing a lot worse but refrained from
making Odeon notice it.
“In the state we are
at, I bet nobody is going to want to come too close,” he said
swinging his hammer to leave it rest on his left shoulder.
Their clothes were
stained in blood from the fights and the walk in the forest didn't
help with the dirt stains either. They smelled humid like homeless
beggar.
Torsti pushed the door of
the motel, a little demon female in out of fashion simple flowery
dress was sitting at the counter with her back to the door, looking
at a television with doubtful color showing humans. Torsti paused a
moment to look at the image box fascinated while the woman turned her
head to look at him. She grabbed her wing to make she that it
wouldn't fly in the way.
“What do you want?”
she said.
“One bedroom with
shower and some breakfast,” Odeon answered pushing his brother.
