Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday.
Now let's go back to our story.
Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital. The rainbow seller arrived for the delivery.
“I don’t know what else to do and staying here waiting is driving me crazy,” Jason said.
“But this kid needs you here.”
“Right now, she needs a rainbow more than me and the only way to get one is to go where they are born, in the desert. I’ll find Everett Cooper, or I’ll catch one myself,” Jason said.
As to prove him right, Clarissa started to cough uncontrollably spitting dark blood all over her bed clothes. Jason rushed to hold her.
“Will you be gone for long?” she asked when she started to breath normally again.

That has to be a tough decision for him to make.
ReplyDeleteOh, how heartbreaking! I hope he gets her rainbow soon!

I like his new plan, to go to the desert where rainbows are evidently born (nice touch). Glad he's never at a loss for something new to try. Another interesting snippet!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Sounds like things are pretty dire at the moment. Not sure I'd be leaving her unattended. :-(
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't take him long to find the right rainbow.
ReplyDeleteOh that has to be a really tough decision to make, with fear of her dying while he's gone, of being too late, of not being able to find a rainbow or Cooper... He's determined, I will give him that.
