WeWriWar 137: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital. The rainbow seller arrived for the delivery.

We start just where we left off last week.

The gaze of the sick child made him feel uncomfortable. He hated sick people, being around them was making him feel sick.
“I’m going to the toilet,” he said as if needed to explain himself to her.
He wondered why he felt that way for a second, then grabbed the bag filled with Jason’s money. Clarissa was angry, she knew he was lying, but she just looked at him without saying anything, holding tight on the blanket as if it could protect her.
The fat man walked backward to the door and passed his hand in his greasy hair unable to sustain Clarissa’s eyes any longer. He tweaked to find the handle and disappeared as quickly as his huge body allowed him.
Clarissa stared the door a bit longer to make sure he was not coming back before going out from under the blanket.

Answer to last week's comments:

You all wonder why the fat man is in such a rush, well, we'll know in two weeks, a little bit of patience.
Ed, you're definitely into something here. Also the movies was good, I just wished it was a big smarter.

  1. Well, since my comment last week was spot on, I'd say that all their efforts to get a healing rainbow just ran down the toilet the fat man didn't go to. So what is plan B?

  9. He should feel sick. Jerk. Taking the money and not delivering the rainbow is so wrong.
    Great imagery, by the way.

  10. I knew it. Slimey little weasel, matches his hair. I hope he runs into Jason on the way out and Jason gives me a nice, big black eye. He didn't even delivery the rainbow, did he?

But I'm also deathly curious, why is Clarissa making him so uncomfortable? I sense a story there.

  11. Sounds like they're going to have to catch the fat man and take that rainbow away from him. What a jerk!
