WeWriWar 136: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital. The rainbow seller arrived for the delivery.

We start just where we left off last week.

“I don’t have all day,” the fat man answered, putting the last notes back in the bag.
Clarissa was now staring at him with her deep dark blue eyes, making him feel uncomfortable.
“Just wait,” Jason said, closing the door behind him. He stopped at the nurses’ desk at the end of the corridor and asked for doctor Marshall.

The fat man pulled up his jacket’s sleeve to look at his watch. It was almost 1pm, he needed to hurry out of here.
“Hum,” he cleared his throat.

  1. He is really in a hurry to get out of there.

    Happy new year, Linda. :-)

  2. I really don't like that fat man! Happy New Year from me too. :-)

  3. I wonder why he is in a rush. Great snippet. :)

  4. I wonder why the fat man is in such a rush. Hmmm.....

  5. I wonder why he's in such a hurry... I'm betting it has something to do with the rainbow -- if there even is one.

  6. I can't help but wonder if he knows something's wrong (or about to go wrong) with the rainbow.

  7. I wonder why he's in such a hurry? Has he cheated about the rainbow?

  8. Like the others, I'm curious to know why he seems to be in such a hurry.

  9. I sort of didn't trust that guy when you first introduced him in the story, wonder what his reasons are for wanting to get out of there. After all of the effort to get the rainbow it would be a bummer if it never really existed.

  10. Wonder if this is the right rainbow after all...

  11. I don't think this guy is all that trustworthy. If that's what you're going for with him, you've certainly succeeded.

  12. I'm getting a really bad feeling about this dealer... There's something shady and fishy about him and his rush to leave. Well, other than the fact he is a black market dealer.
