WeWriWar 101: Rainbow catcher

Welcome to an excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday.

Sorry people I know you hate me because I totally stopped in the middle of Demon and Fairy.
Well, let's get realistic: That was Chapter 4 anyway and there are like 19 chapters and an epilogue. I couldn't give them all to you 8 sentences at the time that would have take 23.8 years. I'm not kidding, really. I calculated it, you can me, I'm a physicist. See what you are not missing? You could be dead before getting to the end of it or I could be dead before giving you a chance even though I like my post schedule in advance, that kind of thing is not happening. If you like it that much so, the book is still out there for grab.

Anyway, enough chitchat. It's time to get to a new story. Meet the Rainbow Catcher. Here are my eight sentences.

Clarissa coughed, pressing on her chest with both hands. Jason put a hand on his sister's back and helped her lay on the white pillow, before grabbing the remote control on the night table. Clarissa closed her eyes for a second, breathing deeply.
“We better turn this off now, you need to rest,” Jason said, but Clarissa stopped him by the sleeve, as he pointed the remote at the TV.
“It’s Everett Cooper. I want to see the color of the Rainbow he caught this time, please, just a little more,” Clarissa pleaded with her weak, sickened voice.
“You will have time to see this show again and again,” Jason answered, decided, this time, not to let her win.
“Or maybe not.”

  8. Ouf... this is poignant and layered with meanings. Simple scene, but very well done. No offense to "Demon and Fairy", but think I'll prefer this new story. It's off to a great start.

  9. I've been wondering when to move on with my snippets of "The Gryphon and His Thief"-- Never calculated how long it would take to post the whole book though. lol

As for your snippet-- I'm intrigued who the rainbow catcher is and why this young girl is so ill. )
