But the rest of him
couldn’t stop looking at her, hoping that something good was
finally going to happen to him in the end. Something like what he had
felt when they were together. He had only just met her, and even if
it wasn’t supposed to happen again, even if he wouldn’t let it
happen again, he didn’t want her to go away just yet.
“Kelpie, you are my
best friend,” Kallisto said emphasizing the last two words.
“So I can’t marry you, I want to marry someone I love.”
“But I love you so you
must love me too,” Kelpie said authoritatively.
Kallisto didn’t seem
impressed.
“No, you don’t really
love me, and you know it,” she answered.

She's so patient : )
ReplyDeleteAw, you can see the reasoning but...aw!
ReplyDeleteI'd feel bad for Kelpie if I didn't think that he already knew that, and if I wasn't rooting for Seti.
ReplyDeleteShe gives hope to both of them when she assures Kelpie that he doesn't "really" love her--indicating there is better for him in the future--and Seti--perhaps she will "really" love him. Enjoying this.
ReplyDeleteWisdom in the midst of it all. Beautiful eight.
ReplyDeleteAh the typical love conflict. Without even reading the previous snippets, I caught on to the story. But I wonder if Kelpie really knows why she doesn't love him
ReplyDeleteNice dialogue, Very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteAw, poor Kelpie:(
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard to give up when you should.
ReplyDeleteLoved this eight, the patience and insight.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's finally all been said. And I like the way Kelpie exposes his logic--that since he loves her, surely she must love him in return. And Kallisto gets to witness it all. Is Kallisto who she really loves?? :-)
ReplyDeleteGood 8. You do quite well with the English language, Linda. :-)
I'm glad Kallisto can keep her head during all this persuasion from Kelpie. Pretty funny how he assumes if he loves her she must feel the same. Excellent excerpt!
ReplyDeleteI do understand where she's coming from.
ReplyDeleteAw. Sucks to be the best friend that's fallen in love with the friend. Ya never get taken seriously.
ReplyDeleteHe's such a special guy--I feel this way, so you must feel this way, too!
ReplyDeleteI'd totally be walking away from this conversation if he kept it up.
Funny how people think that if they love someone, the\at someone will love them back.
ReplyDeleteInteresting snippet. I can't but feel sorry for Kelpie.
