ガリレオΦ is based 3 years before ガリレオthe serie. In this episode, we discover Yukawa's two first cases. The one he helped to solve when he was still a student at university and his friend Shunpei was accused of a murder and the first case Shunpei asked him help with after becoming a policeman.

The first case just show how brilliant Yukawa's mind was and how he liked to solve problems even though the solution has nothing to do with the case. The second case is a real mystery as a man was found assassinated in his house closed from the inside after an fire.

ガリレオ is a Japanese drama in 11 episodes from 2007. It's taken from a novel by the mystery writer 東野 圭吾.

As she starts her carrier of detective in the criminal division, Kaoru Utsumi wants to be the successor of Shunpei Kusanagi who solved a lot of strange and complicated case which seemed to be involving paranormal powers. As she asks for his advices, he tells to her that the only reason he was able to solve the mystery was his friendship with Manabu Yukawa, a college professor and physics genius.

Japan : 富山、滑川の蛍烏賊博物館

On the 21st of September I went to 富山、for a conference. As usual I decided to do a bit of sightseeing but at the beginning, a typhoon was raining itself out all over the place and it was really difficult to walk in the street and to see anything without risking pneumonia. So one free afternoon I decided to go spend my day in the 蛍烏賊博物館  (firefly squid museum, ほたるいかはくぶつかん）in 滑川 (なめりか). I had the museum all for myself and the staff came to get me for the live show which was also just for me. It was really interesting and I learned a lot about the fishing of the firefly squid and about the particularities of their bodies making them luminous. It was a very fun day.

France : Rostrenen

After the  conference in Belfast, I went back to France to visit my family for a week. During the market day I took the time to go take some picture of my home town. I'm used to have people asking me if I come from Paris as generally that's the only French city they know. So here is the answer, no, I'm not coming from Paris, I come from a very small town in the center of Brittany. You won't be able to pronounce the name of it and you will have forgotten it by tomorrow but here is what it looks like.

Ireland : Irish dance

At the conference diner there was a representation of Irish dances before we actually start to dance ourselves. Irish dance involve a very high level of practice as the body remain straight when the feet and legs makes you turn and jump. Despite doing more sport recently, Irish dancing was making me very hot and sweaty but it was also a lot of fun. I hope you'll enjoy watching the following video of our professional dancers of the evening.

Ireland : Beaghmore stones circles

After the American folk park, we went to Beaghmore to see the celtic stones circles. It's really strange to see that so many years after the construction, the circles of stones are still there and that they are hiding so many secrets about human history. The celtic culture and especially the celtic constructions such as megaliths or stones circles remain unexplained by science until now. Who knows how many years will be necessary to unravel such mysteries and understand what happened so long ago? What was the purpose of those constructions?

Ireland : American folk park

On Sunday we went to the American folk park. The American folk park is a open air museum which tell the story of the immigration from Ireland to America. The immigration was mainly due to the famine that touched Ireland with the potato decease. A lot of poor people died in the period of Irish history and a lot of others saved money to pay the transport by boat to Pennsylvania. In the American side of the park, houses from Pennsylvania have been imported to complete the museum.
