WeWriWar 125: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

This week I have a favor to ask you. I'm participating in an anthology for Ataxia Canada.
We are having a Thunderclap for the release of both volumes of "This Beautiful Escape." Would you please care to sign up and share the thunderclap with your readers, family and friends. The post is scheduled for November 24th.
Volume one and Volume two
Thank you.

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason is talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day.

We start just where we left off last week.

“You know, that kind of people, they are not to be trusted. I don’t mean that things will go wrong, but that kind of people…”
“I know,” Jason answered, sighing and taking his first piece of engine and a clean handkerchief on the pile. The handkerchiefs never stayed clean too long.
They already had this conversation several times before. Markus had gone mad when Jason first told him he was going to use the black market, he didn't even know how Jason had found it, but seeing the hopelessness of the situation and Clarissa’s health degrading more and more rapidly, Jason had no other choice.
“I’ll be there, for the delivery, just in case,” Markus said.
“It’s at two o’clock in Clarissa’s room.”

  1. Will the delivery be on time? It's getting extremely urgent. Good tension, Linda.

  2. I hope all goes well. She needs this rainbow ... and hopefully the friend's honest.

  3. “I’ll be there, for the delivery, just in case,” Markus said.

I think I just fell in love with Markus with that line.

  4. Can't wait for this delivery to happen, although I have a feeling all kinds of things may go wrong! Great snippet.

  5. I'm with Teresa. Things sound pretty bad.

  6. It is great that he'll have someone there with him. :)

  7. Things are getting desperate. Hope the delivery comes through in time.

  8. "They are not to be trusted." I've always loved this phrase. It's loaded with things that can really make a story go boom! Looking forward to the next snippet.

  9. That's very sweet that Markus (that's his boss?) is going to be there, too. I hope he isn't needed...
