WeWriWar 112: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Then Demon and Fairy is also available for free for reviewers through Shut Up & Read. You can have a look at it here if you want.

Now let's go back to our story.
Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow.
We start just where we left off last week.

Jason turned the handle twice to the left and then once to the right in the opposite motion. The door didn't whistle this time but the steam still came out at the bottom. The vapor was thick, as if to hide the inside from sight. Jason didn't wait for the door to be fully opened. He lowered his head and bent to enter. Once again, the door sank to the floor behind him.
He was in a cabinet, not much larger than a broom closet. There was a small round table in the center and seats with green cushions on both sides.

Answer to last week's comments:

I'm glad you liked the description I struggled a bit with that part.  I kind of want to create a futuristic, steampunk world but not really overwhelmed with technology but more based on people.  I wonder if that makes sense.

  2. A cabinet? A cabinet? Really? All that fancy and mysterious foreshadowing of some dark room he might be walking into and he walks into a cabinet? Didn't see that one coming.

I like the steam that came out of it, neat added bit to it.
