天空のエスカフローネ（The Vision of Escaflowne)

天空のエスカフローネ ( The Vision of Escaflowne ) is an anime and a film from a Japanese manga by Kasuki Akane (1996). They are several version of the story in a manga shonen for boys, a manga shojo for girls, as well as the animes and the film. I haven't read it but I've seen both animes and film and like them.

Hitomi a young high school girl who likes athleticism and seeing future in carts.
She first begin to have weird dreams even while she is awake until the day where the dream become true and she is transported to the world of Gaea, a planet at war with strange inhabitants.
She soon becomes involve in the conflict between the Zaibach Empire and Van the last descendant of the dragon clan.

I really like the music from よう子 菅野 (Yoko Kanno), who also made music for "カードキャプターさくら ( Card Captors Sakura)", "カウボーイビバップ ( Cowboy Bebop)", and "マクロスプラス ( Macross Plus )" for example , and Hajime Mizoguchi who made the music from "人狼, ( Jin-Roh, The Wolf Brigade )", with the song Grace that is probably one of the most beautiful song in anime, "マクロスプラス ( Macross Plus)".
